Hi all,
the bimini on my boat is in pretty poor shape and needs to be repaired or replaced.
I got a quote for custom sewing of replacement canvas but it's out of my budget. So I've ordered one of the Oceansouth ready made Bimini's - $1000 on Amazon for the 2.7-3m width version

I'm going to need to customise it for my split backstays which will have to go through the canvas - i.e. make some cuts in the canvas, bind & add zipper or velcro panels with some extra subrella fabric.
Has anyone done anything like this? How did you go?
Pic of my old messy bimini for context:
thanks!

I made a bimini from scratch using this sailrite method, there is a section in the video about installing a back stay split
Put a zip in right across, but make sure you also have a velco fixed cover to protect the zip from the sun.
I have similar, but only insert two small zips, from the outside to the back stay holes. Put in a flap with Velcro to cover the zip. Alternatively a cut slit with edge protection to stop fraying with eyelets to lace it back up.
If your patient, can be done by hand.
