So because he knows that one of the boats involved in one of the two fatalities offers sail training, we get an opinion piece within 24 hours of the names being released calling for sail training and entries to be more heavily regulated.

Claims the author Salter is an experienced sailor with 12 Hobarts under his belt. So you'd think he'd wait to find out whether the guys that got killed were experienced or otherwise? He doesn't state how many offshore K's he had under his belt before he did his first one....

I assume he's checked to make sure that what happened out there wasn't something that could have happened to anyone regardless of experience....

Not defending what he may have written but I know David Salter and he is one of the most experienced sailors. He has done numerous Hobarts and other races. I recall he may have skippered boats to Lord Howe on the November rallies I participated in.
People actually read the Age!
