So thinking we should have a bit of fun for this years race.
Actually, I'll post 2 custom made 5mm soft shackles anywhere in Oz for the winner.
You win and let me know how big you want them made!
Ok, think it will work like this!!
Pick the line honours winner, the IRC winner and the line honours elapsed time.
Points will be;
Where your line honours winner finishes + where your IRC winner finishes + how many hours you're off on the time.
If your selected boat doesn't finish you'll get the number of finishes +1!
My guess,BlackJack line honours in 2 days 1 hour 30min
IRC Celestial
Have at it!!
Great idea, Ill have a go at the guessing comp, but ill wait for about 2 days after the start gun to post my choices
what rules
Hi Rumblefish
What is the latest that an entry can be submitted
Regards Don
Let's say 12 noon on boxing day :)
Sounds good to me. We will be following the fleet from Sydney to Hobart on board the Coral Discoverer. We did it 2 years ago and it was great. We pull in to Constitution Dock for New Year's Eve for all the festivities and disembark on New Year's Day. I will give my tips a bit later, but on the forecast at the moment I would have Blackjack for line honours and one if the smaller slower boats for IRC.
I ami interceded why Black Jack is being chosen over WO XI
Regards Don
For mine, recent form plus currently a lighter forecast.
I'm pretty sure she's lighter than WO11 and skinnier too!
Plus I've never liked the Oats boats!!
Tracking the fleet with be interesting, im expecting every boat will have to turn on and transmit their speed and direction for every second of the race, unlike last year
The decision will be to choose to run out way east in an attempt to skirt the southerly, putting a lot of Nm on the trip or to hug the coast into the southerly.

for the same reason i dont barrack for collingwood

BJ for LH, 51 hours.
Alive on IRC.
I'm over watching TP52's win everything, so rooting for the 66'er.
Anyone fro SB doing it?
What boat?
Yes, but it's not me. I think I was invited, I can't really recall. We were a bit pissy after a 48hr passage

boat was entered but it's still broken after trying to get there last year :o(
We also have some pretty special cargo onboard that we brought up on the delivery and will race back with. Perhaps the barrels should have their own PLBs!

Hi FreeRadical
I have never seen her inside but looking at her from the pontoon I imagine Magic Miles would be a pretty comfortable boat to make the trip down on

After you and Crewy rescued the 5 maidens before running before the storms, somebody two bays away could've cracked the port bolt and you two would've fallen over all giddy (it was a very amusing evening though )
I wouldn't have been able to make it anyway, but I am jealous now that we know your cargo..... It is a fine whiskey.
That was a great trip Toph, and a few memorable evenings!
Don, she is a beautiful yacht, inside and out, immaculately maintained. A heavy girl at 34t, so we are hoping for some reasonably heavy weather.
Yup, Magic Miles is a beautiful boat!!
Repaired the furler with a new forstay recently and she is in good shape!

I LOVE the inbuilt expresso machine. Makes my little old fashioned stove top thingammy seem archaic.
Nice ride for a race to Hobart FR!
I hope you get some heavy air running, but the last time I checked the Southerly could come through on the first night?
I missed the official weather briefing, so I'm 24 hrs out of date admittedly..
Having been to the briefing this morning, my 16th in a row, I'll go with either BJ or WO for line. Handicap could be anyone and I mean anyone. There's a NorEaster till Green Cape/Gabo Island then take your pick. The little boats, Azzuro, Katwincher could come home.
Thanks for the update Phily.
I'd love to see a little boat race, that would be cool.
16 in a row is super impressive, wish you all the best for the trip south.
