Ha, I'm back after a 5 month hiatus while I concentrated on a masters degree. The boat has sat patiently waiting for the sun to come back.
We have breached double figures during the daytime for two days now over this side of the globe... The last few months have had me wondering if I should consider emigrating to Aus, the winter here is a killer. And it's not even been a bad one.
I'm full of hope that our one week of summer will coincide with the two weeks I head off racing in June. I can't wait. Got a new co-skip to join in this years fun, she's funny, kind, courageous, generous and single. So it was during a recent training course we did to update our first aid certificates I was wondering, what are we doing wrong? two eligible sailing people, amongst a world of other eligible people, we clearly need to work on our technique.
So, this May day weekend, (after a slightly disappointing 1st date, who was one of "those-who-don't") while it was cold and wet I sat inside Boogie Nights, hugging a heater and wrote my own dating manual for sailors. It amused me, it certainly kept me away from finishing steam cleaning my cockpit, but I should probably do some work now.
I hope it amuses someone, or maybe it's just me.

Good to see you are still kicking Miss Misfit.
My Mother emigrated to Australia in 1950 from Cambridge and vowed and declared she was never going back "there" again.
Google up "Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia" to see why Aussies are so contented. Best climate in Australia, 5th best in the world.
If you want to give Australia a trial run it will not cost you much more than your air fare as we are quite hospitable here in Bundaberg and I could offer you a good dose of fast cruising on this lovely little thing.
The title of your thread "Summer is Coming" reminds me of this song by one of Australia's favourite sons, Billy Thorpe. It's almost summer.
A great blog. Just have one disagreement. You should climb naked over the other person to get out of the cabin. (Must google gull wing for the innuendo- I guess it is millenial speak?)
Hey there Misfit . Good to have you back was just wondering the other day where you'd been
Winters here for me half painted hull

I do give an explanation of what gull winging is, it's er, a way to balance both sails in opposing directions, its a precarious balance but quite rewarding.

Lovely lines ya got there.
Cisco, you forgot to mention the range of shopping on offer in Bundy!
I am fine with Bogans in the main street but having to live next door to one is really bad.
May I suggest if you bypass Cisco Boganville offer your more than welcome to join me on my large ICON for some true ocean cruising visiting some of the best cruising islands in OZ.....I cook a cracker Sunday Roast as well and can play flamenco guitar over sundowners. ????
loved the blog ,didn't realize girls put so much thought into these things ,thought us guys were a lot easier lured in.Remember Tasmania and Victoria are just as cold as England they just had snow on mt wellington whereas in brisse its still 18 degrees at night and 28 in the day winter is the best time to sail in QLD as its not so hot
Found your blog quite amusing and an accurate description of the preparations before any "visitor" comes aboard

Now that I have googled it, I understand that it is just a name for a procedure that us old sailor/satyrs have been doing for years without realising that it had a name! Have to be careful though, that you dont end up with a death roll if you hit the resonant frequency of the boat.

Excellent pitch SA !!!
But tearing into a roast chicken leg with her bare-hands may be a little presumptuous on the first date !!
I would set the table with cutlery just to be sure !!
S&S -looks like you have it all worked out. Healthy roast too, with lots of veg.
Now tell us about your boat, S&S. Sorry if you have already expounded the details, maybe there is a link?
