Lots of comments on here about The Walker H 28 but no real information on the build and specs.
is the hull solid glass ?
are the decks composite?
is the ballast encapsulated and is it lead or cast steel and if it is lead is it a cast or lead shot and concrete.
would be nice to know the actual ballast weight .
hopefully there is someone who had something to do with building them.
always heard they are one of the solidest built small boats out there.

Encapsulated lead keel. Built very solid. 5t displacement. Great sea boat but not a racer. Most are ketches, and often sailed without mizzen, and some have removed mizzen. Sloop version available but rare.
The Walker 28 is solid glass throughout, with a very heavy layup. Decks are solid glass and the ballast is lead shot and concrete on my boat.

The Walker H28 Herreschoff's original design assumed that the hull would be timber. In the 1980s, the Walker Boat Company in Geelong modernised Herreschoff's original design to take advantage of the relatively new "Glass Reinforced Plastic" aka "Fibreglass" construction methods. In comparison to other fibreglass H28s, the Walker design boasts a more solid hull layup and improved cockpit drainage to further enhance the yacht's suitability for offshore passage-making. The Walker design is the most popular fibreglass H28 in Australian waters, although many Compass models may be seen along the coast. The Walker H28 differs from the original design in the following key areas: Slightly greater draft Raised sheer Tiller attaches to rudder at 90 degrees through a slot in the transom Enlarged cockpit Higher gunwale moulding to take stanchions
