I've heard an Aussie has just had to pay 7000 euro in fines over a visa issue in Greece... Are you in that 'big time' catagory?

If and I repeat that IF he has been involved in the drug trade or some other nefarious activity then we won't be hearing from him for a while. Again IF that is the case then my sympathy lies with the authorities.

Seeing that "he" never really explains where he is, maybe he is another "Jane", living in an imaginary world. In the words of the Beatles- Let it be...

Given the topic heading is "sailing o.s and visa requirements", what on earth leads you to think it has anything what so ever to do with drugs or anything nefarious at all, it is more likely he just didn't have all his paper work in order or upto date, which in itself could be a real problem or not depending on where he is.

He has stated previously that he is in Tahiti, French Polynesia....and he is against drugs on board, off loading a passenger due to his drug use.
I used to travel there frequently for business (tough ...but someone had to go!). Great place, Tahitians are very hospitable...even though I was a supplier its difficult to pay when entertaining.

Their tourist visa's are easy to obtain and long six months - but they (The french!) Are strict on people working overstay. As local unemployment is high.

It is probably the most expensive place to live I have been to. The Tahitians don't like the French much (esp. nuclear testing). But tolerate them, due to the amount of money the French govt gives them.

Ok...long story short. ..based in tahiti. ..do some serious surf searching.

Water is always a issue.

And so is food.

U can only eat so much tuna

Has anyone else set a yacht with room for a goat and chickens ?

Maybe he WAS Jane??

He used to have a photo of his boat on his profile which looks AMAZINGLY like a boat moored at the Redcliffe Jetty piles.

No but seriously theres def 1 or more fake posters on here. Notice all the new posters of late with the quite dumb questions?
I dont really care because the brains here answer, it becomes a discussio and i learn something anyway which is why im here. Blob or no blob, its all blob., i mean good.

Flat eh.....I'll have to be careful not to sail off the edge.

When I think back to the 'Jane' saga, I recall thinking how quickly she had picked up Aussie
slang considering English was a second language and she had not been here before......maybe I should
be more analytical.

They always slip up eventually. Alot of the new threads from new posters are written the same. Funny how your way/writing is hard to change or copy. Its like a signature.

Im more than happy to meet people from here and did so last year. It was great. It baffles me that some people hide so hard behind their alias on here. Last year someone in the harbour said to me " are you steve" i said " yes who are you" to which he replied" no one" i said " how do you know me"he said " i read about you online".... i guess im just a bit more open than some.
I met fish monkey (ella, a male) and dr rog ( roger) who are SB members. They are absolutely lovely people and id love to do it again with other sailors.

That's been done. It was a long thread but not too many people put up their photographs. It wouldn't help the apparent paranoia, but I think some people just prefer to remain private.

I thought last years Morton Bay catch up, and my attempt to do the same at Rottnest might of helped a little. Seabird ma not be too keen to host another this year, but I reckon an annual event from as many regions as possible would be awesome to get to know a few more..
