I know there are many options out there for foil gear.. Some good, some not so good, some well priced and some waaaay over priced, infact most are over priced!... I guess thats the down side of being part of a sport thats booming, some brands are simply going to monopolise on that regardless of economy...
I have been a long time rider of GF gear, mainly becasue when I started foiling it was really the only option.. I'd wanted to change from GF for a long time but for lots of reasons, one being the unknown of what other gear felt like I stuck with it... I finally got fed up of the same old foils and lack of innovation and made the (big for me) jump to another brand, ONE foils... Sure I looked around at the market and compared but couldn't justify the sort of money other brands were trying to charge me, I mean, $5500 for a mast, fuse front and rear wing? Really?
I also wanted to support a True Blue Aussie brand and, I could not be happier.. I've been riding the Ultra High Modulus Mast / Alloy (Axis compatible) fuse and UHM wings for a couple of months now and only wish I'd had the foresight to jump ship long ago... How the wings compare in glide and efficency is incomparible to what I was used to and the quality? I'm blown away by how beautifully constructed this gear is... And, yes, Axis gear is really nicely made too, but, you pay nearly 3 times the price for it so it damn well should be... But in this day and age, I see a myriad of posts asking about which gear to buy and wanted to shout out to ONE.. Quietly going about delivering ultra high quality masts, foils and boards and supporting the true enthusiast by bringing it all to market at "real world" pricing we can afford.... Don't believe me? Go do a like for like comparison with the other top 3 Aussie foil sellers and you'll see....
The point of my post is, if you're holding back changing things up because you're feeling stuck on a brand that maybe your afraid to change from because of cost, familiarity, the unknown or don't feel you're ready, don't hesitate.. There are genuine, honest to goodness suppliers out there with world class gear that won't fleece you of your kids inheritence to go enjoy the ocean..... Get a ride on some ONE gear.... And if you can't, call me, you can come have a rip on mine!!

Hi mate, I have two front wings, the 870 and 1049 (these are 870cm2 surface area and 1049cm2 surface area mid HA wings, nice and easy to understand).. I use the 1049 mostly and the 870 in bigger wind/wave... The last regular GF front wing I used was the RS1150 on a V2 80cm Mast which I wanted to change as it felt slower than I wanted and more boosty in bumps and dropping down faces dwing or foil surfing (paddle not prone)...
The 1049 for me at least is the perfect improvement, a much much smoothly glide up rather than an abrupt take off, and so much more composed through bumps, swell, chop and dropping down faces surfing, you don't get that "critical" front foot pressure panic that I got from GF.. And as for speed, this is a good deal faster, i felt on the GF i was always a little bit too slow here on the bay, the 1049 (and 870) can bump jump nicely, cut back over bumps to jump on the following swell and doesn't get all bent out of shape dropping into steeper drops and turning on the face of a wave.. foot pressure for me is much more balanced.
I hope that makes sense? It does in my head, but in my head is a strange place lol!
I'll see if I can link some wing dw footage here.. Not sure if I can.........

Here you go......

Those ONE boards look really good. Wish they had some here in the US.

Yeah wish we could as well, we used to have a importer in Canada who also supplied the US but that stalled in COVID times and never really started again so have been looking at all options these days and hopefully something will stand up again so we can start getting some boards and foils back into the US. We have been sending a few direct but that's never perfect and not that cheap.

Thanks mate,
Always good to hear people enjoying the gear.

Its a tough industry in some ways for smaller companies like us but Our main goal has to always put out the best quality gear we can for a fair price. The foils and foil boards IMO are some of the best out there and maybe over the top in carbons used in some cases but I would much rather over do it than do it half arsed.
Prices are still pretty fair and some of the reasons why is we don't really have team riders that we give free gear to or have to pay to travel the world we don't pay to do massive advertising and we just run a really tight ship. Free gear for somebody means someone else out there is paying for it and in 99% of cases that is the end consumer and for us we really want to keep things as fair as possible for all. Plus in Australia we sell directly so no retail margins which also helps.

Glad you are loving the gear and we have plenty more cool stuff to come!!

@paul -Why is your uhm mast "already" on sale?
I am about to order a new carbon mast from Axis but now i'm indeed considering a ONE. Anyone have a Axis/One uhm mast comparison?

That's just our standard price now that's on the website. The retail is just maybe what it should be but is no longer as we are fully direct in Australia.

Mast also comes in what I think is a sick local (Aussie made cover) that holds the Mast, tail wing and a fuse. Just in case the mast was not already good value.

Does anyone have any experience running the Axis 1401 on the ONE UHM mast? Feel free to DM me if you'd prefer to take this offline . I'm just trying to stiffen up the big wing setup at a reasonably cost effective price . Cheers

It should be fine but it's hard to make those big wings feel super stuff as the wing it self is so long it has flex which does not help and wings that wide just feel weird when turning no matter how stiff the mast feels. That wing should come with sticker saying good glide but turning not recommended
