Had the pleasure of trying the range of AFS foils over the weekend. Big thanks to Richard from AFS and Mark from WingingWA for the use of the foils. Silks were amazing in the waves and Enduro series is better pump and for winging on the flats. Superb quality/finish, stiff mast and connections. Hard to fault. Some footage below of me using the tow boogie on the 650 Silk. Drone pilot Richard from AFS awesome skills
Beautiful waves
They had a heap of bump and movement underwater. They claim the Tubercles and Winglets smooth out the ride and I would have to agree. More here afs-foiling.co.uk/foil-complet-silk/
What about me !!
Stood on the beach in the pouring rain
A bit of drizzle. And you had your own boogie you could have been out there. Nice pit work on the foil changes
Been looking closely at these foils (will try the enduro soon fingers crossed) they are a contender for sure.
Is that a skinny wetsuit or have you leaned out , looking good
Lost a few kegs which is good
Did you try the Enduro in the waves?
700 is a hoot. Ordered 700/900 Enduro, way better glide than Silk.
Enduro looks very interesting, have been checking out the stats on your Strava with interest @hilly
Am still on AFS Windfoiling kit but Armstrong only for wing and surf as a few years ago AFS only had the Performer which I tried and didn't think was better than my HS and MA's.
The new stuff though could be the answer.
Any comparison between the HAv2 and Silk or Enduro? Thanks.
The Armie crew who try them find they turn a bit better and are smoother through turbulent water. Bumps on the leading edge seem to work.
I had a small DW paddle run on the Enduro 1100, HA 40 tail yesterday in lightish winds (as you can see in the Vid), after a full run on my trusty Armie 980HA. So runners were weak as piss.
Best way i can describe the foil (at this size anyhow) is "intuitive and effortless". Took me literally 15 seconds to dial it in and get in flow state - sync with it. For example you want to get to the. "turn off that bump to link up with a forming swell over there".
You are in the right place at the right time.
Great and controllable speed, glide and turning control. Infact i had to dial down the turning arc realising it had a lot more turning ability that i ever expected. That's the tail at work as well.
Yeh def worth a demo crew.
Careful or you'll be off the Armstrong Chistmas card list you foil whore. And doing an Oskar style report to add insult to injury.

haha I'm still a dedicated Armie frother - but I appreciate good gear and i think people should know about it. I don't ride in an echo chamber that's for sure. Love it all. Bring on the 780!!!
Im breathing a lot harder than oskar.
You are looking fit though.
ah thanks big fella.
Great videos thanks. Going to be a tough decision next year to stick with Armstrong or maybe go back to AFS. That Enduro set up on the UHM mast looks like a great set up. And I can actually buy one where I live which isn't true of all the foils out there.
Off topic Hilly and Eppo, but can I just say how absolutely blessed you look to be with local conditions!!! It looks awesome out there and I am jealous big time.
Just in from a wing session as it got dark at 3pm and was 10-15kts, temperature -1 degree C.
(did have a good time though on my new bargain bin buy HA925 and HA1125 foils)

Man we get winter to - gets down to at least 9 degrees on a really cold day
Hey @Eppo, what's the main differences between the Armie HA and AFS Enduro ?
Eppo said "Best way i can describe the foil (at this size anyhow) is "intuitive and effortless". Took me literally 15 seconds to dial it in and get in flow state - sync with it."
Sums it up well. They turn better than anything I have tried.
Hey @Eppo, what's the main differences between the Armie HA and AFS Enduro ?
Well until i've ridden the 900 and 700 Enduro (hopefully soon) I can't make a definitive analysis as that is the sizes i am mainly on winging, prone and DW paddle. Plus the silk range towing to compared ti the MA.
Id say categorically the armie HA is the ultimate all rounder. It can be applied (given the right size - that is riding smaller than you'd ever think) to all the disciplines quite well. But the Enduro looks like it will excel and DW and def prone and the silk makes an excellent tow wing. More specific for their purpose. Cause let's face it armie need to fix that MA unless freestyle winging and cash like crazy wave riding is your thing.
But the bigger HA sizes are a little too slow and draggy - to me it lacks a really good bigger sized wing above 1000cm square. The 1100 enduro had far more glide - it was effortless in 12-13 knots whilst i was working much harder on the 980 HA in the same conditions. - i had to be really on my "reading the bumps" game.
Then there is the 14 aspect 750 ultra which the likes of Steely and Tom are frothing over (note advanced DW paddle riders).
I spoke to Richard (the AFS international sales guy and a ripping watermen) in the back of a van whilst doing a DW shuttle) and he said "we have designed these foils to be where foils will be in a. couple of years). I think that is pretty close to the truth.
Plus when the likes of Hilly take notice I tend to pay attention. Not many people know this but Hilly was the first in australia to take note and suggest armstrong well before it was a leading brand here. He's always onto it.
Looming forward to trying the KT range for that reason as well when my mate gets his in Jan hopefully.
I also think Armstrong lack a proper higher aspect tail for DW paddle. That HA 40 enduro tail is spectacular and turns so well.
The overall feel of both foils is very good - stiff but just enough built in flex unlike say Code which i found far too stiff from the get go - although they excel in DW paddling - never liked them on the prone or winging. The tuburcules def wash away the whitewater - bumpy swell effect as well. Gives great pitch stability and fluidity through that stuff.
Both brands are excellent just pros and cons like every brand.
But again this is from limited riding experience - although i've been with crew riding it in scores of sessions. But not myself. There is only so much gear available to try and lots of people want to try them st the moment!
Stay tuned for another vid on the 1100 enduro wingman and I have just about finished. It's a ripper.
Happy Xmas everyone. I was lucky enough to get my prezzie yesterday
If anyone in WA wants to demo AFS hit up Wingman WA on here.

Nice info. Yep the Enduro loves going fast perfect to ride waves with. Feck Kane has some skills
