Has anyone tried converting a racing mal to a downwind foil sup or knee paddle foil board?
They are around 3.2m long and 18 to 20 inches wide. It would be possible to chop some tail off to reduce the length a little.
I understand they are light weight eps and would need solid reinforcement around the foil box.
Thoughts or any experiences welcome?
A mate did , just epoxied some timber strips in the bottom and screwed the mast to them with self tappers and away he went !
If you have a good solid board these work great , stick on mounts, I've had one for 5 years now and still going strong.

Love it Kobo!!
Thanks for posting. Christmas project sorted!!
How did it go?
He's been flogging it for over a year now and only just had to make new holes for the screws ! I didn't think it would last long with all the pumping etc but I was wrong ????? The pine timber tracks are about 1 m long and don't even go through to the deck. It works fine the only restriction is not much flat area on the deck to stand on but enough, the bottom shape is good and fast.
100 percent they paddle like a weapon!
Stick on bases look like a good way to try out without too much time investment.
Cheers lads!

Just add a leash of some kind to your mast, back when these were more common in the early days, a few people lost foils through the mounts ripping the bottom of boards out.
