3 years ago I posted this on FB & it just goes to show Jimmy Lewis knows his stuff and is always ahead of his time.
Jimmy Lewis-
This top picture is of Vitor Marcal, North Shore (Oahu) lifeguard captain, about 20 years ago on a foil board I designed and built for him, at his request, to have a board that was good on LANDINGS. Vitor was one of the original foilers when Laird and them were FIRST doing it. And Vitor was/is GOOD at it. Even though he's good, he still, as ALL foilers do, come down off of the foil sometimes and the board comes in contact with the water. He asked me to shape a board that had the least amount of resistance when touching down. Didn't take me long to decide to make a board with the bottom shape of a seaplane which is designed for water landings. I've just recently resurrected the design with some minor updates for the wing and stand up foil boards I'm making. Craig Corea got his new one today, a prototype of the 4 new wing/foil board sizes that I'm putting into production soon. The name of this new model will be the Flying VM (named for Vitor Marcal, the guy who inspired me to do the first original shape with that design.
