Hello DJ,
I have been a NAISH tragic from the start of my foiling journey, love the brand, but not always loving the gear.
These new foils look great and I want one, however, bitter experience has taught me that young kids showing how its done is not the truth for old unco guys who believe they are still 17.
Show these foils with "NORMAL" foilers who are the market and I might change my mind.

I couldn't agree more. I also feel the same way about seeing videos featuring the Northern Beaches. Guys always complain about the bumps there, but I'd give anything for conditions like that. I also know better than to assume that since JB is paddling something it'll be no problem for me!
I have the new 1800 Glider foil.. I'm a 100kg old fart (67) and I normally use the huge HA2140 foil..
I used it with a 5m wing in 5-10 knots the other day and it was amazing. My goal is to use it for light wind winging and downwind SUP foiling..
It felt very stiff and quiet through the water and had a solid feel when pumping.. I'm sure the stiffness is because of that new hammerhead shape fuselage..
It took a similar board speed before getting liftoff but once up it glided for much longer than the older HA 2140 foil..

btw pretty sure that's Michi Schweiger at the end of that vid..
and he's no spring chicken..
Here's my first flat water fresh water lake pump session I have done on the GLIDER HA 1800.
In the video, I show the Gider HA front wing, the new 2D 250 tail and the New Naish High Modulus Carbon mast 75cm. I am riding my trusty Naish Hover DW 125L (7'4" x 25"), and I am 6'2" at 46yo and 93kgs (at the moment ). Unfortunately I had just recovered from Covid, and this was my first foil back, so not the greatest lungs or fitness after 2 weeks off, but absolutely amazed at how easy and well this foil performed. By far the easiest I have ever used on flat water by a long shot!!
Officially launched, with, limited stock available now at dealers that pre-ordered, more on the way, but I think I will need to order more!! Both the 1800 and the 1400 are nothing short of enjoyable! Easy to achieve performance. I am loving the Glider HA 1400 for DW in 8 - 20kn, achieving consistent pace around 2:40, but my last 12km run was a 2:34. So far from slow. The 1800 really enjoys sitting around the 3min km in the ocean, super easy! But was a low end that is mind blowing!

16 kmh is 3:44 pace. My average HR was 151bpm, but I never went over 164bpm. You can see the 10sec. but my 20sec was 17.4kmh with a 500m of 16.8kmh. So arguably, removing the paddle up and glide down would have been average around 17kmh.
Such a nice foil to use!

Not that you can tell in this video, but this is actually a pre-production prototype that I have been using for a while, it is actually quite different to the production foils that are significantly better! Nearly 5mm thinner, stiffer, and llighter! A lot faster and easier to pump, and no pitching moment until into the 30's!
Here's a DW run on the production 1400 Glider HA I did a while back while I was working it out.

I am amazed and impressed that your are still on the 125 DW board. I have the 105l and love it , me 74kg, for Windwing.
WOW, WOW, WOW,
I kicked the hornets nest with this one.
Just to be clear, after learning on NAISH, I still have my jet 2450, and despite some short relationships with other brands, I ride NAISH 840 as often as I can.
I was just making a comment about the kids killing it, and me working away to develop skills.
Looking forward to a demo day to try these out.

I love my 125L. I still have my 110L also, but really enjoy the comfort of the 125L and 25" width. I think people seriously over think the whole width thing. Being able to throw down 100% power when you want is so much more valuable than a sleek board that you have to nurse and are never truly stable on. In general I am one of the first to foil being one of the oldest and heaviest! Technique, power, and technique are paramount! You can't buy the journey! (yes I intentionally repeated technique).
I love the 105L's shape, just too light on the volume for me at 105L.
I am 6'2" @ 92-93kg. 46YO.

Had another great flatwater session on the Glider HA 1800, this time I used the 2D/160 stab and went for distance. My goal was to try get 1km, but I couldn't find a long enough section of water without corners due to jellyfish up the bay further, so I had to start were I did, then ran out of space having to do a "U" turn which I burned too much speed on and decided to drop. The start few hundred were a little DW, but the entire leg after the buoy turn was unfortunately a head wind which didn't help either! But very stoked with 710m at the moment, still aiming for 1km+, but just waiting on the right day.
Here the stats for that PB run.
Good Average speed at 16.9kmh. The Buoy was off the tip of the shallow sand bar, I was hoping the wind would be offshore or blocked as I went into the cove, but it funnelled out as a head wind which wasn't ideal. I turned too sharp and lost it, but there wasn't a lot of space between the boats and it was a super low tide, so even shallower than the photo looks.
Such an awesome foil, loving how easy it is to use.
Look forward to breaking the 1km barrier!

JB

Awesome, Stoked you have the 105L, it is just an incredibly balanced ride. Much like the 125L, just super easy and fun all the time.

Another fin lightwind dw on the Glider HA 1400. Coming to the end of summer NE'ers, this may have been the last. Noy much NE swell, but a sizey opposing south swell just to spice things up. Was a super fun run, that 1400 does not cease to amaze me!
About 10-12kn, <1m NE swell, long period South swell. Me (JB) 6'2" and 92kg. Board Naish Hover DW 125L and Foil GLider HA 1400.

Hi JB, Is the new HM mast a worthwhile upgrade over the S27 100% carbon for use with the HA range of wings?
Hi JB, Is the new HM mast a worthwhile upgrade over the S27 100% carbon for use with the HA range of wings?
Hey airsail,
It's never as black and white as that, but in essence = YES!
I will try elaborate a little more so it is easy to understand from my point on view.
The S27 C100 mast is very nice and plenty stiff. The S28 added/changed some of the UD carbon layup and did achieve a slight stiffness increase, it is minimal but noticeable on larger foils. If is owned either of these masts and wasn't using the larger span foils majority of my time (over 100cm), then I would think I'd prioritize other items first as far as need for upgrade (like a new HA2 or Ultra Jet etc...). This said, if money wasn't really an issue and I had my foils up to date (fronts and rears) I would most definitely recommend upgrading the HM mast, again more so on the larger span foils, the HM is a very noticeable stiffness increase. The biggest difference between the S28 C100 and the 2024 HM Masts is in the torsional stiffness! Whilst the side bend is most definitely also stiffer on the HM, the torsional stiffness is pretty incredible. It is probably on fractional percentages but you can definitely feel it immediately.
When it comes down to it, I have come to the realisation that in most instances when you're paying for masts, the price reflects the materials used, and the better the materials, generally the better stiffness control (also a lot is design for sure, especially in torsional control). But this reflects with Naish' range. The S27/28 Alloy mast is excellent for the $$$. It is actually quite stiff side ways, but where you notice it (and this is across all alloy masts) is torsionally, this is normally what you're noticing when comparing to a composite mast. The Alloy mast structure work amazing in lineal front to back stiffness, and the section and "I" beaming make for great perpendicular bend stiffness, but the material limitation is in the twist/torsion. This is why going thicker but with the same amount of material creates a radically torsionally stiffer mast, but at the cost of drag and weight. When we step to our C35 and C55 masts which are composites using 35% and 55% carbon, they have great stiffness, comparable to the alloy in side bend, but more life and faster reaction than the alloy. Then going to C100 takes everything up a notch. Greater side stiffness and significantly more torsional stiffness than the C35 and C55 (and likewise the Alloy). But like in all things, the cost is somewhat reflective of what you get. Personally I would prefer have and Alloy mast and buy more front wings and tails first. I also like the 65cm option in Alloy which is nice and stiff (as the alloy masts are stiffer in the shorter sizes). Given the choice now, if I was on an alloy and had my foils up to date adn the money for the next step, I would likely go straight to HM (knowing what I know), I can not imagine anyone being disappointed in going HM so long as they can afford it and did not go without to do so.
A very long winded and cryptic answer, sorry, probably lost it in there somewhere , but in simple, yes it is worth it
I can not go back now!
Ride safe,
JB
Great answer JB, alas it won't help me now as I picked up the HM 85cm mast this morning from Jas at Briskites. but should help others decide.
It does look great and now we just wait for enough wind to try it
is anyone using the glider for anything else but downwinding??
Im keen on finding out how it goes winging or small wave sup foiling.
Im about having fun in light winds, small surf and wake foiling. Not seeing how fast I can go
Im old,fat and basically lazy,I like to glide with minimum effort.
Can any Naish tragic offer me an alternative front wing for what I want to do???
I have a 2140 .
A mate lent me an axis PNG 1300,basically an 1800 fun.only used it for a short time in 15+knots winging.
Why the hell cant we standardize sizing.
