Thumbs Up

Hi guys, I am thinking of trying a longer mast. Currently on the Army A+72 with the ha 780 and V tail. Thinking of going longer, got the old 85. I feel that will give me more control on larger waves.but not sure what are the pros and cons.
my goal is to pump back.will this help?
cheers

If your priorities are control and pump , I would suggest a PM 795 or 865 mast and a 180 speed tail or 140 dart tail. There will be only pros and no cons with a stiffer faster PM and a more efficient stiffer tail. Theoretically a longer mast has more drag but I found the extra height actually helps pumping giving you extra clearance from chop and extra depth for less breaches and more leverage in turning. The stiffer mast will also transmit all the pump energy to the foil.

Thanks mate, I tried today my old 85mast and liked it a lot better. More control and better pumping, not double dipping but 3 times I made it all the way back.I think I will be able to do it!
used the V tail because I want it to change only 1 thing.will see if other tail gives me better pumping!
