Ok i got enough money for a foil ....just ..bloody hard times with cash i tell ya ...and thinking of installing a box to a board ...
I'm going with a neilpryde foil ...$140 for the box ,$ 1700 foil.

the board I have is a 8,7 sunova ..flow .is it too long ? and too narrow ..30,25 wide 120 litres .

i know its a shame to cut it ,but its the only board i got ..left ..i don't use as a surfSUP much .

shall i do it or wait till i can afford a proper foil board ...and be patient ..and end up with a better start ,,..i'm green .starting with no experience .

Look for a deal on used gear. I'm in Nz but I'm selling a NP foil set for 750 and I have 3 foil boards to sell a 6 9. 6 11 and 8 5. All under a $ 1000 each. The 6 11 would be a great start. There will be heaps of gear available in Australia too

I have an 8'2" JP wide surf pro with foil track installed, also has windsurf mast point. You can have for 350. I have had a blast on it but would now like to go smaller. PM me if interested.

Just find a good used foil board and a good used foil as they are starting to show up. Stuff like this for a board will work and only $500, only has a Tuttle box so would suit a gofoil or would need a adopter if you went NP. On the foil side just chase a used Gofoil set up or Axis if any pop up both work well if you get the right wings.

There is a NP Tuttle head available for purchase, simply slots into the top of the mast for a board with Tuttle head mount only.

I would be happy to swap the 8'7" sunova for my JP with some cash your way. And I reside in Yamba.

So many NP glides on 2ndhand market

I wonder why?

maybe because they have dropped the ball over a year ago?

promises of an XL wing or something HA, but nothing in reality

go with axis or gofoil or gong

Don't do it,you'll for ever have your hand in your pocket, next it will be a shorter board smaller foil, then it will be a wing.

All your other boards that you had to beg and plead to buy will sit in the garage

Dont do it son,

But then again it's great fun,and frustrating

Some days you fly like a bird

Some days you skip along like a kangaroo

Other days you need viagra to get it up......on the foil that is.

That is right, the NP glide is a good solid foil that performs well, they came out the gate strong but availability of new wings and product development let their customers down.

Still a really good option for a second hand buy but if I was going to buy new i would probably go for an axis or gofoil.

I am one of the lucky punters who managed to get a hold of a NP glide XL wing so between that and the medium and large I have all my kite and sup foiling bases covered

The NP foil is great. But they have left us hanging with no new wings. I'd buy an XL if I could - none available. Argh

You'll be right with the NP foil. They are a great performing foil. But if you want an XL wing forget it. And my medium wing was faulty. It leaked water at the trailing edge. 2 pin holes which I don't think would be on all the wings. I think I just got the lemon. I've had it in knee high to overhead waves. I love the medium wing in most conditions and use it 75% of the time. I think it is a bit easier to control than the large wing.
If you ever decide to Wingding in no swell I think you would need the XL foil wing.
And in that case get another good brand foil that can sell you all parts without any wait! Which is what I now wished I had done!
Oh! Don't cut up your Sunova. Either keep it as a SUP or sell it for a SUP foil board.
I'm happy with my 7ft by 31 wide board at 115 litres for my weight of 80 kgs. Great in swirly choppy windy conditions.
But you can go shorter. My 6ft 8" by 26 wide at 96 litres is to unstable in a bit of chop due to its width.
You'll love it. Good luck.

Just take it easy. Keep the nose of board down and surf normal in a straight line. As soon as you lift off push the nose down again or if you are more confident level out and balance keeping board flat, no tipping left or right.
I was watching a prone foilboarder the other day being overly keen, trying too hard & aggressively giving his board a quick hard pump only to go skywards & get dumped forward or going off to the side when he could have just relaxed more, go straight with the whitewash & give some nice gentle pumps to get the board just off the surface and concentrate on keeping level and balanced. He never even got a ride.
You can go too high but you can't go too low.

$1700 for Neil pride foil, you getting touched up there look under buy and sell there are packages on there which great to get started as you will upgrade once bitten by foil but. Naish foil ok if you under 75kg and will get you going and there is some Naish hover sup boards as well. Buying it 2nd hand will also resell later at minimum loss. Good luck
