anyone tried or owned this model before? I was captivated by an 8'4 x 28 x 99l model that came Up for sale near me to complement my 7'2 hypernut. I used to love my 8'3 x 28.5 x 105l Jimmy lewis supertech but it felt like a boat to turn after the hypernut.

i had a little paddle on yesterday and was so tippy, the beveled rails are crazy- I reckon it takes off the width by at least 1-2inchesin stability and feels like a 26in wide board. Really thin nose, tail, rails and a rolled dome deck. One of the first boards I've had to paddle in ages where it's more stable paddling in full surf stance even when not on the wave.
only got a flat water paddle but felt like it would carve up on a wave (if you don't come off beforehand).
keen to know if anyone has ridden one before?

Can be a board made for clean conditions? Would you have an other try when glass and nice peeling conditions are ?

Unfortunately I can't re-test it unless I buy it! Hah.
quite tempted just to see what it's like but also not sure if it will too difficult when it's big or choppy getting on to a wave

Can be the gap between the stability and carving behaviour of the Nut and the secure of the Jimmy is hard to find ? Anakao seems to be too close from the Jimmy Lewis, I would choose something else to fill the gap...

Crazily enough despite the similar dimensions, the anakao was nothing like the supertech! The difference in stability between them was crazy. soo much thinner rails (they have a special bevel rail), kind of like an actual shortboard vs a typical sup rail.
im planning on getting rid of the Jimmy lewis as I find it cumbersome after the Nut but still wanted something to handle Bigger juice where the nut starts to tap out. Just intrigued whether the anakao will be too hard work in open ocean!

Could be the Anakao has been design to carve and paddle into the Tahitian perfection.... could be the time for you to have a custom fitting your own and local box?

Benjl, i have a F-one manawa and used an anakao model 9.5 for a summer , i have a love hate relation with F-one boards as their beveled rails are a joy to handle when glassy conditions but i found they amplify the roll when choppy conditions or less than perfect ....as you can see their volume are lower than most other brands at equal size , the 9.5' was 112 liters.....As Kami said they are a tahiti based brand with unreal conditions (glassy reef waves ) so would i buy another board ? yes but knowing that only good glassy conditions will allow to have fun with it at least at my humble level...

I've been to tahiti surfing a few times not sup, it is not glassy perfection that often other than the lagoon. Its deceptive because the wave face drains clean on the reef but the surrounding seas are more often choppy, rolling, current and or some level of wind like most other places. Think more like hawaii than indo. Can be good windsurfing!

Wave conditions find out by the local look clean. Thin rails and nice rocker are fitting those waves properly.

Ha, the tahitian dream is real but when you aren't making a commercial video you might find something more like this or anything in between:

Still looks pretty awesome especially if you are pro competitor

I had a good little session this morning in 3-5ft glassy waves on my 8'4 x 28 x 101l board to compare to the anakao. Quite a different shape but decided I will also sell that and go ahead with the anakao.
stay posted for some reviews! I imagine it's going to be hard work!

Here's a couple of pics- you can see the refinement in the tail and nose with thickness in the rails. I don't have a good pic of the bevels but most of the rails sits under water while paddling.
it's got a good bit of rocker in both the nose and tail! Volume distribution is very centred which is very different to my blue planet board of similar dims.
can't wait to get it on a wave!
