Ok so I'll be honest.I do work for FANATIC.
The other honest thing is the first time i rode the STUBBY 8"2 X 29" (104L) i thought the board was too big.
(Considering i do normal paddle the Prowave 7"11 X 27"5 X 93L).But after riding it this morning, in sucky 2ft Main Beach, I've changed my mind.
Yeah the board is a fare bit longer then other VG compact style SUPS on the market, but don't let that phase you.
This board is the fastest and easiest SUPS to surf, i think I've ever ridden.
NSW, VIC and SA demos are coming up.
Make surf you come and have a burn.

Those pictures look great, what beautiful water.
how do you think these boards will fit into a 2 board quiver. I've got a prowave 9'3 which is a keeper but am looking for a shorter board. Could the stubby replace a conventional shortboard like your 7'10 prowave or 8'3-8'5 boards for us mere mortals.
i tried the hypernut but found the lack of glide an issue for me as I like the feeling of really paddling into waves.
Great question raphlong....
I've been ask this a lot since being on the demo tour, the last 3 weeks.
Its a tough one. There's obviously a few things that need to be considered.
The first thing you need to do when looking at choices for boards, is to work out where your going to do the majority of your paddling. Say 90%. And be realistic, because not many of us surf 6ft clean point breaks everyday.
Eg. If 90% of your riding is in 2-4ft beach breaks. Were you need speed and glide to get into the waves. And its often a bit lumpy so you need a bit of extra stability. (like i have at my home) then the stubby is a no brainer.
Sure 5% of my riding might be in sub 1ft waves, were a 10'6 FLY would be better suited.
And the other 5% is over 4-6ft where I'd definitely prefer the prowave.
But don't also forget these 2 X 5%er's happen very rarely.
With more board time i will happily reply with any drawbacks i feel it has, but for now. the 104L board has performed far better then i originally thought it would for someone of my weight. (I'm only 72kg)
Best option is to try it out.

Here's a little clip i threw together on the plane last night.
Shows how loose and easy the board is.
How much fun was it this morning great to see some good banks up this end again.
That must be at the expense of Miami - the banks are, well, $hit.
0ne of the surf fx guys said he is going to get one.
ive never heard him speak of getting any board before or talking boards up
im curious now
Bobajob id say come up this way but the winds looking funky for the rest of the week. Put up a clip on jp slate review from yesterday if u want a look

Not sure why i got red thumbs....
The GC beats the bone chilling westerlies and 4/3 wetties we've been getting in sydney of late.
