I am a sup surfer myself but I would like to buy a board to teach my young teenage boys to surf on and my wife. I was wondering if anybody knows of a well priced surf sup that makes a rigid soft board.
I picture normal hard board but covered in soft sponge. ? A board with a little bit of nose kick so ok for surfing small waves. ? can be a no name brand. don't want to spend a fortune. just thought a soft board will give them some confidence and be safer.
If not a full soft board, perhaps a board that has a super soft deck.
Hi, CMP Boards at Weekend Warrior on the Central Coast have a kids SUP at $700 and a larger version at $850. Both are EVA soft tops.
We have a CMP in the family which does the job and gets everyone out on the water.
Thanks DJ I was looking at these . look like good quality.. Just not sure why they are all so high in litres.190 litres ... My teenagers are only about 60 to 70 kg max so close to 200 litres is pretty big.
Also I was thinking the Nalu 10'6" in soft top may be better than the Mana soft top 10 foot ? Your thoughts ... ? For interest sake are they pretty heavy compared to a normal Mana 10 or Nalu 10' 6". ?
Thanks for the help..
Hi Chuck
is the CMP board ok for surfing, it has no pictures of people surfing it ? I'm worried it may have too little rocker ?

The 10'6"x 32 would probably be a better size for you.. I love my slightly bigger (wider) size because I use it to paddle with my dog alot.. and he's a big dog.
These new Naish soft-top boards aren't the cheapest soft-top boards out there but they are very well made and more importantly they are much better shapes than most others.
They are a little heavier than the normal hard boards but not by much.
The CMP is more for bay cruising and playing around in the surf at a reasonable price. For sure the Mana is a proper surf sup with a soft top and plenty of stability.
Thanks for the information
For interest sake DJ ...
Does the protective soft layer on the Nash shoft boards go arround the rail ?
And is the bottom of the board exactly like a normal hard board .?
Are they actually normal hard boards sprayed over with a soft material to make them more learner and dog friendly ..?
It's just like a hard board.. The soft layer is over a hard layer and the rails have a rubber-like coating.. The bottom is like a normal hard board..
I've paddled plenty of other cheaper soft-top boards like they use for rental and in schools and the are much softer.. They flex and wobble almost like an inflatable.. These new Naish soft-tops are very different and well worth the extra cost in my opinion..
I also still have my old 11' Mana soft-top and it's a keeper and an awesome board.. Seen in this vid with my dog.. 'Curtis'
