Hi. looking for a square / squash tail board with good rocker, something I can really slide the tail out on. I am finding it a difficult search, I am not a fan of the super Frank. The only boards I can find are the Sunova placid and ghost. And smik hipster
Help. Any recommendations?
The SF is really for fatter and slower waves IMO. Super flat and fast - and is slashy.
Although, If you surf the pocket and are in higher performance waves, you'll want a different board.
Sunova SPX, SP25, Starboard Pro, Smik will do it for you as a custom (Spitfire or Hipster), Gong have a couple. Deep will do it for you too. Naish Mad Dog has a bat tail (similar), JL Supertech. There are plenty of options really.
What is it about the SF that you don't like?
To be honest I had the 8"6 x 32 and only rode it once and sold it. Maybe I was too quick to judge. I was on the new hipster pin tail which is amazing but I am finding I prefer a fatter tail with a little skate and slide ( eg hipster swallow tail ) as most my waves are beach breaks and average surf conditions.
What do you weigh? That sounds like a big board... at 141L
Other options are the JP Surf Pro or Quattro Carve Pro.
However, The regular Hipster is made for that stuff really. Fast and slashy. Stable for its length too.

I wouldn't put the JP pro in the skatey or slashy category. it's more of a down the line speed board with hard rails and a narrowish tail. The straight fin boxes mean there is zero fin toe or cant so the outside fins never pull into the turn when you lean on a rail like a traditional setup. my surf pros will turn nicely, but reluctantly and only when ordered to. Whereas I just ask my hipster twin nicely and she pivots instantly on the tail.
Just going off of your description. The Sunova Creek sounds like the ticket. Basically the nose of the Acid with a performance rocker and the tail of the Speed. The tail is more diamond shaped than square but has the squirt you are looking for. While this board can turn from the middle it is a high performer when surfed from the tail. While the Creek performs is slower waves, it like some juice

Stamp,
What I meant to say is that it had a square tail, that's all... Sorry if that wasn't clear.
Castawaycove,
The Creek has a Skate nose and Speeed tail. With the cutouts in the tail it's less of a slashy board.
I would look at: Hipster Twin, SP25/SPX, Ghost, if the waves are head high or smaller a Skate is super fun too.

With twin fins ,most have huge side bits ,so sliding takes some doing ,
as hop says 8,7 SPX will slide ,but the flow 8'8 is also a sliding machine ,set as a quad ,small rears ,

The tail of the Creek was selected fro the Speeed because it never slips as it powers through bottom turns.
I found I need to use a very small trailer in the center if I want to loosen up the tail, but I would never consider it for tail slides... it is a fast carving performance board.
The Ghost is a better choice for tail slides, but not designed to cling to steep, juicy walls.... I have to ride those waves as close to the pocket as I can without riding deep enough for the sucky barrel situation.
