On the east coast Coffs atm , currently looking at Mongo RG model , I'm 73 kgs , only for waist to head hi at the most , budget 1k. surf a 9.6 mal , will fish the creeks as well .
Hey baz there wont be much experience with boards in that price range on here.
Have you looked at the second hand market?
26" is very narrow for a sup. Even at your weight. I'd look to 30" or wider for your first sup.
Maybe that's one to progress to after a year or 2.
I'd say the Noosa 9'6"model is a better starting point.
General guide as a good place to start I think:
9 foot plus, about 30" wide, 140ish or more litres.
have looked at 2nd hand market , there's so much out there that its hard to pick what's good & what to look for .
I wouldn't overthink it mate. almost any board will cover what you are looking for.
Just don't buy one that's too small as a first board. That's why I gave a bit of a suggested size on my last post.
I back Hoppo 100%-thought cos I surfed shortboards I could handle any sup. No but no. Length, width and litres are your friend then you experiment
Enjoy the journey,

Spot on advice. Could even go a little wider, 31' or 32' will be more stable in chop.
Also, a 2 piece paddle so you can experiment w length. Less sturdy than a 1 piece but worth it at the start.
