Well my new purple Insane arrived today ,and the surf was pumping and big ..like leg rope breaking .
It was a heavy day and low tide today and 10-15 knot off shore winds ,so vertical take offs with some nasty agro drops ,but the custom wider insane handles it no problem ,the legrope did not ...but it was really heavy ..i was even a little nervous at times .got 4 really big waves after a massive end close out ,managed to get the board before rocks ..i really swam hard ...I moved to another bay with smaller waves and caught some crackers with some big wave drops ,it really does handle gnarly waves 8.10 x 31 1/8 x 127,7 litres .
geez Wayne ...8,2 kgs with the fins in ..I'll try get some footage tomorrow so you can really see how it goes ..
Its not as lively as the flow ,but it holds a nice line down the face and in turns .Doesn't seem to jump around in chop
and come unstable ,very predictable which is what you want on bigger wave faces .I did take these carbon fins off
as too stiff ,I like a bit of flex in my fins so back to glass fins .more forgiving .
Hi mate, that looks beautiful, glad that you had some proper waves for your first surf. Also glad you did not smash it
Holy smokes that's crazy you almost sent the board on the rocks during it's first trip, nice report!
Beautiful board. I always thought the Insane would be an awesome big wave board if it was just a little wider for mere mortals, good on ya for coming up with those specs. What perfect timing to have good sized surf for the first day out. I bet your new board loves you for keeping her off the rocks.
thanks everyone ,and yeah was lucky the rocks didn't have a feed of purple ,I am now using a proper SUP leggie ,the colour is so sick ,they done a great job at the factory
I'm still trying to work out how to surf it and what fins work best ,and yes John I had to buy a insane to realise they are very narrow and tippy ,with the rounded rails but they surf great ,just not good in chop at 29 wide when your out the back in big surf ,where everything is moving ,at 31 1/8 it was pretty stable and didn't feel too wide at all and the 8,10 was still short enough to flick around .I think I've got a good one need more time on it ,it has quite a bit of rocker ,as I asked for the Acid rocker line ,
Dude, that is a VERY sic color!
they have a very good art department IMO, made your vision a masterpiece!
Rocks like purple..
Make them unhappy ??

looks sweet in the flesh ...scared i will scratch it ,,
He's a quick vid of me surfing my little gun ,it does take more energy turning it than the 8'8 flow ,but still goes ok ,I did like it as a quad better after 4 fin changes ..as the tail still has a fair bit of width to it .enjoy the vid anyway ,surf was not brilliant..
Hi mate, looks like a winner and again I love your own private wave pool. Your not to brilliant surf looks great to me with the week of wild wind and waves forecast.
If you where a cat I believe you used a life or two not sticking the nose under on that take off
Have a great weekend and ride a wave or two for me
Steve.
Nice one Tardy
You and Xavier Rudd have just convinced me to blow work and take the green flow for a spin.....

Love the color!
Great vid as usual! Great surfing too! It always takes a bit of time to dial-in a new board, but you have the perfect place to experiment - paradise!!
Thanks CSE , the last year it's been the flow , it did take 4 days to work it out surfing it , slower more drawn out turns , but a good add to the quiver for sure , with the extra rocker vs flow this thing takes the scare out of big drops down the wave , I have had to paddle harder to catch the waves though , but starting to really enjoy it , it is wider than the normal insane s and I like it as a quad , large size 7 front quobbas and size 2 rear quads , I got a few groupies checking the colour out at the beach
