Here's a photo of an idea for swimming with your paddle after having your leash break (As I suggested threads back). When the surf is up it would be worth wearing one?
1. Place a secure loop around your paddle shaft
2. Around your ankle use a Velcro flipper saver type ankle strap to either secure a small shark clip, or alternately another Velcro loop. I like how fast and easy the shark clips are to secure.
If you loose your board, all you need to do is secure the loop on the shaft to either the shark clip, or extra Velcro loop. You can now easily swim to shore with your paddle. Sure beats having your paddle dissapear out to sea or even wash onto the rocks?
i have had to do this twice , both times i swam on back using the paddle to swoosh myself along . doable but a pain ! both time using hire boards in sharky norcal !!!
worse, was trying to find a paddle that i let go of !!!!
I still want to see the way some are meant to swim with a leg looped over the paddle shaft so it stays on your back, leaving both arms free to swim.
when I tried it I felt like a monkey humping a greased up football
