Just got back from a 2 week stint in Hawaii , 10 days staying at the Otrigger Waikiki and a few days over at Kialua/Lanikia.

Magic weather and postcard days , surf was small 1 to 3 feet but still managed to surf everyday. My girls had the time of there life , they are now master shredders there was agroup of 31 of us for our friends 50th birthday so the partying was pretty full on

Here are some pics.

Yeah how good is Kona board hire it was only a 5min walk from our hotel. I won't travel to Waikiki with a board again , it was about $120 for a 9 or 10 day hire and you could change the boards everyday pending on surf size. shorts boards , mals or sup's all really good quality , Bonnie was run over by some kook on a Sup and her board had a nasty fin chop right through the board , they only charged me $30 for the repair best part was I just swapped it for another one.

Airfare return from Bris>Syd>Hawaii return on Crapstar $4,000 (4 pax) , my friends got in early and did it for 3k on Hawaiian Airlines (4 pax), Outrigger resort (Dukes) was $189 per night partial ocean view (still great) for 4 people or $229 with Breaky (US$) there are cheaper places a couple of streets back but this is the pick for value & position and it goes off at night , our house in Kialua $400 a night sleeps 10 Hire car seats 8 $600 for 7 days + $25 insurance +$25 per day to park the bloody thing at the Outrigger. Food and alcohol is very cheap.

I forgot to mention that I went to the Outrigger Conoe Club and ran into Todd Bradley he invited me out the next day canoe surfing with my kids but we had to go to kialua , he really is a nice bloke and a very humble person.

Awesome trip Rob-I went with only a mate in July/August-we're going again next year-BUT would love my wife and girls to come - they're all surfers and those S Shore breaks are such easy fun for a family surf.

Nice looking DC too.

Thanks for sharing the stoke-just had a mini few minutes of vicarious holiday there reading your post.

Thanks for sharing - looks like an awesome trip. A mate of mine and his GF spent 4 days there last month and will not stop raving about it. Maybe one day I will have to go..........

Of course Lats I told him about our mighty channel crossing in 1990 with the Surfers Outrigger Cane Club and I also told I'm thinking of doing the SUP race next year with Simo in the 100+ catergory. he did it with his son this year.

Fantastic pictures.. Thanks for posting them.. I wish you were my Dad.. DJ
pretty funny DJ

The cheapest way to get to Hawaii is to start looking now for next year and wait for the specials to pop up. Thats how my mate got his whole family there for under 3 grand
