Great session - thanks for sharing.
I just got my hands on my 7'10 minion on Friday and had one long session at the Prom in 'OK' waves and a shorter session in Westernport in small waves. I may write something up and share some thoughts. I can't wait to try it in some real waves like yours.
But I am curious about your footwork on your front and backside. When going left you had your front foot in the center of the board and your back foot did most of the work. But going right it seemed you used your front foot a lot - sometimes your back foot was in the center of the board and other times you moved it too.
I don't mean this to be a critique - I am in no position to do that. I am curious because I struggled going left - I am natural foot. I found myself 'naturally' using my front foot like it seemed you were, but I struggled to get the board to respond. I only went left a handful of times, but I felt as if weight on my front foot (on the edge of the board) only tilted the board, it didn't steer it - if you get my drift.
Going right for me was fantastic - I couldn't believe how smooth it was and how much I was able to move the board around - as long as I controlled it from my back foot.
Sorry for the long message - I am just curious about surfing it on my backside.
Hi no problem..welcome to the minion club!.I'm sure u will enjoy as much as the rest of us..at present I'm really trying to focus on the back foot doing all the work and my front foot centred on the middle..as I do in the left..when I surf backhand I tend to revert back to old habits I guess...on my backhand I'm trying to now pivot my core and paddle all the way back around to really try and whip it vertically to the lip and back down again..but it's easier said than done..and a work in progress..for me just pushing myself to get better and trusting the board,my abilities and utilise the waves the best. Chur
Thanks - I think I just need more time on a left break to practice.
I enjoy watching your videos - keep them coming!
thanks man...just enjoy sharing the stoke and getting feedback. It all helps. I think the back foot over the fins engaging them is where you want to be and that comes more naturally on my forehand as you can see from video. My backhand still needs some work tho..if you do use your front foot and push the rails you can sometimes catch them..and that usually means means wipeout lol
Nice Supmaori. Spent 3 hours on my minion this morning. Heaps of fun, really getting the hang of it. None of the waves i caught were as long as that though!
Another awesome video Supmaori!
What a great break to have access to. You and your Minion are making the most of it!
