Does anyone know if the boards they are riding are custom team boards, or are Starboard going to be producing them??

This from Wardog in Santa Barbara...

Hi PT Woody,
There are a couple of iterations of 14' Starboard race boards in circulation...a couple of production 14' Surf Races just arrived...and, are for sale now...Brian Syzmanski has produced several custom carbon 14' Surf Races...including the one that Connor Baxter will be riding at BOP...you will be able to check them out at the BOP coming up shortly...they will also be available for sale through our shop after the race...12'6" and 14's...

We will also be playing around with a bunch of the new 2011 Starboard SUP models next week in Santa Barbara...including one that has my name on the bottom...;-) These will also be at the BOP to check out...

So I think it's fair to say these two boards are custom, but the production boards of 2011 will be pretty much what you see here.

Hi Stuart, both the boards are available as production boards and they are available in Australia, not sure exactly what Connor and Bart are riding but they look identical to my boards. The 14 footer is a beauty, 28 inches wide and very stable, fast rocker line and high volume displacement style nose that blends into a double concave then into a V.

Great for downwinders and just general distance paddling, actually surfed mine in small waves on the weekend - great fun. Also very good paddling into the wind, the unusual shape of the nose stops the usual slap slap over chop and despite the volume does actually pierce swell.

Hoping to take more downwind video of it soon.

Abso-freakin-lutely. Bring on the wind. And I hope to see some of that backwards paddling action from you Jonathan.

Thanks for the research PT and Jonathan!

I wasn't convinced about those noses until I did a couple of runs in 25kt+ on a Naish glide.

I'm looking for a good all-round 12'6 for up/side/down-wind - so I'll chase these up.
Look forward to seeing the video of your 14ft board and comments on it.
