If you have GoPro Importer/Studio installed and you have noticed that your computer has been running slowly (even when you aren't working on videos), then I have a solution.

My Sony VAIO had been running slowly so I thought it was time for a new PC. I bought a Surface Pro 3 with maximum specs and to my great disappointment it ran like a dog. Long story short it is all thanks to GoPro Studio importer.

Read this:

www.reddit.com/r/gopro/comments/2nuat5/psa_disable_gopro_studio_importer_as_it/

It turns out that the GoPro Studio, that is always running in the background waiting for you to plug in your camera, is messing with "WMI Provider Host". If you look in Task Manager you will see it chewing up your CPU - possibly at 100%.

The solution is to exit from GoPro Studio via the system tray (right click on the icon and select exit). When I did my PC stopped screaming and the CPU dropped to 5%. Happy computer.

You also need to stop it from starting automatically when you start your computer - go to Task Manager (ctrl-shift-Esc), go to the Start-up tab and you will see it in the list. Select it and click Disable.

Now, when you do that you won't have an easy way to start it when you do want to import your video - GoPro don't add it to the Windows Start menu... So, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\GoPro\Tools\Importer, and create a link to GoPro Importer (I pinned it to my Start menu).

GoPro support department acknowledges the problems but blames Windows. They need to fix their software - they surely have the money to pay better developers!

(By the way, I did the same on my VAIO and now it runs quickly - just wasted a lot of time and money...)

Yes I previously posted on this , I acutally sent Gopro a blast telling them GoPro studio is like a herpes virus it atatches itself to everything and hijacks downloads. Worst programme EVA. Just delete it , it's really only for people with have no other edit software.

This is something that should be pinned to the top of the forum or something - until it is fixed. You would not suspect the GoPro software if your computer was running slowly, and when you figure it out a post like this doesn't help... I can't believe they could create such crappy software (I have written to them about dumb functionality), but this is beyond dumb design. It has just cost me a lot of time and money...
