Hi guys,

I have a 10'6 PSH used mainly for surfing however have been doing a few more fitness sessions with it recently.

I have a GPS watch I use for running and took it out last time on the SUP. Problem is I don't really have any times/pace details to benchmark myself against.

Obviously lots of variables, however anyone have any stats they are willing to share ?

e.g yesterday was 5km, flat water with slight 5kt headwind and averaged 6km/hr on my 10'6. Assuming thats rubbish but would like to have something to aim for!

Hey andrewm,

I've got loads of stats but all are on raceboards so not much good to you really. We did a steady quick, but not fast paddle for 10km this morning. Averaging around 8-8.5km/hr.

I think a surf or general shape will go up to about 8km/hr at full speed but unsustainable for any length of time.

Have fun,

DM

Ok to give you something at the other end of the scale, this OFB did 5.25 kms at 5.91 km/hr on my Shaka which is a 14' DW board

And thats an improvement on my pace last year, it was 5 km/hr

I was gonna say tortoises are faster than me, but they are a water based animal....

ok thanks guys...although not interested in your times for private indoor activities !

will keep logging sessions on the garmin (910xt is great!) and hopefully see some improvement.

Saw a guy doing a DW'er at scarbs on monday in what was probably the strongest seabreeze we have had all summer...bet he was flying
