G'day Breezes
Is anybody using Dragon Dictate 2.0 Wireless for Mac I'm going to have a go at writing a script for a movie I got my hands on Movie Outline version 3. It's a screenwriting software to develop your story into a professional screenplay.
Going to call the Movie _ _ _ _ __ _ / _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
A LOW PRESSURE PRODUCTION PRESENTATION.
But stay tuned for the next Low Pressure Production youtube Instalment on how to sing a karaoke songs Namotu Island style presented by DW & Mat Tobin. Coming this August 2011
I don't use it but have looked at it for the iPad, works ok if you remember to speak in an american accent.
I bought Dragon software years ago to transcribe interviews but it was unsatisfactory. You need to train the software to the nuances of your voice - it's not exactly user friendly. I don't think it would be the way to go for a screenplay. You can't really write screenplays through stream of consciousness. You need to revise and rewrite pretty much every sentence.
Similar to PT Woody. I did a project years ago to evaluate Dragon Dictate for a large organisation where people spent heaps of time typing up notes when they really needed to be out saving lives and stuff.
It works extremely well at what it does. Problem is, instead of typos you get talkos. You say something and it interprets it incorrectly. You have to proof read everything and correct the errors and teach it what you meant to say.
The software learns how you talk but the problem still happens every time you say a new word or say siomething in an odd way.
It was also very susceptible to background noise and microphone quality.
Thanks heaps for your replies Breezers
I'll have a sit on the fence and think about Dragon Dictate

I use the latest version regularly at work (for about 2 months now on a PC) and am very happy with the results-same caveat as others re the 'speakos', training it up and the proof reading-if you are going to have someone else proof it for you, or you are super careful at your own proofing, it's great-it's a huge time saver if you're doing a large volume of work.
G'day breezes
I decided to get my hands on the Dragon dictate speech recognition for Mac. One word this Dragon Dictate is the ants pants. So much easier than typing instead of typing say 50 words a minute I can now type 300 words a minute talking you just have to speak clearly at a steady pace. Thanks for your feedback breezes but I'm so stoked I purchased Dragon Dictate.
