People don't think much about breathing. Of all the things we take for granted, breathing has to be number one - even though it's our main source of life and energy. When I started focusing on my breathing, I became a stronger athlete and was better able to control my levels of effort and pain.

Read the article:

Get the techniques:

Only covers the basics, but still a decent read. Like he said, people just normally don't think about it...

Jacko and the boys on the Goldy have been doing that for years. They even made a video with fish swimming past them. It's now standard practice for extending your bottom time, masochist's only.

I did a breathing enhancement course by Devon baskell some time ago ,he is from the gold coast, I think. He came down to Sydney narrabeen sports centre for the course.
For any sport and every day life I recommend it.
A lot of pool breathing exercise,
And relaxing breathing technics.
Helps you keep calm under pressure and not waste energy from nerves
Look him up if interested.

Although I understand the importance of breathing, now how in the hell am I supposed to nose breath when I have a snorkel in my mouth free-diving and spearfishing? Mayde it is all a ploy so I spend more timevon my Laird SUP? Also sounds a lot like basic yoga to me?

well a couple of years anyway.....im sure they got the idea from somewhere.

Breathing techniques have been taught in yoga for 100's of years. Always good to adapt the old to the new.
