How good are the Mentawais.. had 2 weeks at Wavepark in the playground area.

Absolutely amazing land camp - upmarket accommodation, wise surf guides and great food.

Unsure how the SUP was going to go... very quick and shallow...had a ball.. riding a smaller board than normal (7"8) which helped with the quicker sections.

Waves were around 3ft -5ft for the whole trip.

If anyone is looking for a great surf trip . check out wavepark.com

Hey Guys

great photos thanks for posting.....

Couple of queries on Wavepark....

- What is the swell usually like that time of year - did you get waves every day?

- Were you surfing near the island or further afield via boat.

- Did you strike crowds anywhere - do boats rock up with 20 dudes and take over breaks, or are the breaks relatively uncrowded?

Also, Can you take your laptop to wavepark to do a bit of work if needed - do they have internet?

Any more info appreciated.

Cheers,
Lance.

@ Lance, wavepark has wireless internet at the main bar/resturant area.
Even when hide-a-ways is flat there are so many other waves that work and when out the front is onshore there is always somewhere offshore.

Crowds can happen but generally it was not, out of 10 days probly 2-3 sessions were crowded but in saying that everybody was very polite, except for an American bloke that was a bit of a dick.

Its a great set up I recomend it
