Nice report NNSUP, thank you. I hope you are correct in assuming that the 24" will exhibit good stability as well. I've only tried the open water 24.75" and the found the stability to be just ok. If the 24" is as stable or more stable then the 24.75", I will be ordering one up.
I've used the open water 24.75 and 27.25 extensively and if you compare the flatwater 26.5 and open water 27.25, the flatwater is more stable. Based on this I think the thinner flatwater board is going to be very stable for flatwater racing.
I've now kept the 27.25 for ocean races and the thinner flatwater board will be my bay/ lake race board. I've used both open water boards and when paddling in downwind conditions against paddlers of similar ability I've found I'm faster on the 27.25" because I can put more power into my strokes and not have to worry about balance as much. If an ocean race involves much flat water then the thinner open water board is faster.
My comments are based on my ability as an average racer. Guys like Paul Jackson who are lighter and have more ability will probably still prefer the open ocean 24.75" for their ocean board and will no doubt race the thinner flatwater board.
The best way to determine what is right for you will be to get down to your local dealer and go for a test run.
I'd like to thank WIND SURF N SNOW and FANATIC for the opportunity to try the board. I'm disappointed I had to give it back.

Yes, thank you for that, some great info and feedback NNSUP. Hoping to get a 14x24 on the next shipment to Miami
Can someone comment on the stability of the 24" wide? I know at least of few of you have had a go. There's only one 24" stateside, but no luck getting a ride. Looks like I'll have to order before trying.
