I recently lost my Garmin GPS 310, in the Ocean after my wrist band broke on my. I was wondering if anyone use this nkhome.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=rowing+sports+s+sup+perfo+nce+speedcoach+2 and how easy it is to program your workout?
I find it useful but I am a complete amateur working on my form and efficiency.
It makes me 5-10% faster when focusing on my stroke cadence and distance as inputs to speed, rather than just the resulting speed and Heart rate outputs on my Garmin. Also useful to discover when you want higher cadence shorter strokes and when to do slower longer.
There is a touch of lag on the speed display that i notice down-winding.
Have only had it for a month so figuring things out on how to maximize efficiency.
I still use the Garmin Fenix 3 to track calories and distances as it is easier to sync up.
More technology. More challenges. Soon we will have real-time SUP blood oxygen and lactate threshold monitors to analyze as well.
I'm a big fan of the Garmin Fenix too. I have mine programmed for stroke rate and glide ratio which I thought would be completely useless but it seems to be pretty good.
Worth it's weight in gold ( at $740 just about is ).
Where else are you going to get super accurate stroke rate & meter's gained per stroke.
Fantastic training tool.
Used them from K1 to ocean ski's to outriggers & now SUP.
PLUS THE NUMBERS ARE BIG SO I CAN ACTUALLY READ THEM
Hey Movement lab, I've got a Fenix 3 and am really interested as to how you've got yours programmed. Can you share your set up? Thanks.
Hey 5oh-I tried to set it up on a clients Fenix 3 and I couldn't figure it out (I have a Fenix 2), but just thinking how I should have done it.
The problem was that I could get all the data I wanted on the custom screen-pace/distance/time. But it wouldn't let me select stroke rate on the other screen.
I think you may need to do it as an edit for the open water swim setting-let me know if this is possible.
I bought the SpeedCoach GPS and have just swapped it over for the new SpeedCoach GPS 2. There has been a lot of input into the brains of it in particular from Mick DiBetta. The stats it gives are great - you just need to learn how to use this info to your benefit. Not that I give a rats but I have noticed it gives a more realistic calculation of calories used. Many of the gun paddlers use it but that's not to say you need to be one - I'm not! One the greatest benefits is the large screen which is mounted on your board in front of you which you can read whilst you paddle. It's SUP specific and the team at NK are great - they will take on board any feedback to continue to improve it. I must admit I also have a Garmin 920xt but I use that for other activities as well and I'm a bit of a gadget junkie. You won't go wrong if you get one.
Can you choose what it displays on the screen? can you have distance, time, average speed and stroke rate all showing at the same time??
It has 4 displays. The top two are stroke rate and speed/pace - these can't be changed. The lower you can change and choose from distance, distance per stroke, average speed/pace, stroke count, heart rate, elapsed time, calories or average calories.
