Here is the footage from Dale, he did the Vic Point to Port run...over an hour of magical footage....had to cut as much as I could for the video file, but could have made this an hour long. hope you enjoy, and see you in Brissy again soon !!!
Cheers Nick
This was one of the best days out ive done in moreton bay.
Awesome video and it still doesn't do it justice.
We need a DJ camera angle to capture the true size of the bumps out there.
That day the best ive ever done.
It was almost trance like
Local crew want me to bring my 14 fter up but just even watching the day on vid no chance.
The cleveland section straight over the banks is f 16 heaven
Lacey, we only want you to bring the 14 so we have a chance of keeping up.....but Karla was raving about the Maliko on the run. Never saw which way she went either..... the 17'10 NSP DC hauls ass though.
glad you like the video guys, Dale is amazing on that board, and watching the full 1.5 hours of video while editing was awesome.
Awesome vid.. That's even better than anything I've seen from Hawaii..
David you have to come up here with your rig when the wind is howling, you will have a blast and get some awesome footage.
OMG that looked good. Flying DC
Kissa we need someone to come challenge matty nottage on it mate we all certainly can't Road trip urself up here
Wow. Heaven. Yup, looks nicer than Maliko, as Maliko tends to have a crazy ass big ground swell that rockets in from across the Pacific... When it's lined up, great... When it's not, scary. So tell me, why do all you Aussies go walk about when the best downwinding is right in your backyard.. (There's got to be a dozen or so right here in my neck of the woods here in Canuckistan.. Lol)
SuperD i reckon it's just because hawaii are where the racers are at so naturally they all going to flock to there.
bay down wind runs very different to open ocean down wind runs also. Some love big open ocean swell runs the glides would be longer on a big ocean swell.
It is a shame that our start and finish points are very small areas to launch from and finish at ie: not a good place to set up a start or finish event site at,
and our wind is not consistent for weeks on end like maui so planning an event and getting a 20knot plus south east wind day would be pretty tricky.
Can't argue with that AndyR. I guess I was hoping that Moreton Bay was the next downwind destination.. But yeah, without the trade winds I understand the limitations.. And I'm totally familiar with the waiting for the wind game. (Or is it a test by the wind gods.. )
Andy is correct SUPerD, the winds are not reliable, can have weeks of nothing, then a week of really good (always when you are at work)...cyclones help up north I have found, as the winds generated at this end of the coast seem to build quickly and hang around for a while.
