What happened to the guy?
No drama's.. Just a long paddle in with a very short paddle..
Is that a carbon Fanatic Innegra paddle? My dealer has told me recently hes had a few broken Innegra's in the last few months....faulty batch maybe?, love the dramatic music too
I think think the resin system work hardens in the Fanatic paddles. I've got 2 and I've broken 2. Not through abuse, but they've just plain worn out.
Regardless of whether it's carbon or Innegra/Carbon, it seems when the screen printed 'Fanatic' name in on the shaft is really crazed (thin cracking of the printed logo), that's your warning to start saving your pennies for the next one as shortly thereafter, they go bang.
That's what started with mine the Fanatic logo crazed then bang. Asked the local dealer he said it was fine to keen using. Two days later WTF! Full refund & bought a QB never looked back
I've heard that the major brands [Naish/Starboard/Fanatic] have made big improovements for 2016 with their paddles..
99% have been fine in the past but you will get the odd one [of any brand] break.. and when and if it doe it's a major bummer.. Andrew fell.. cut his hand.. and put a hole in the deck of his board [Starboard Allstar].. Missed a good DWer and had to paddle in on his knees..
Here's the new 2016 Fanatic paddles..
Worst part was having to dig the small pieces of carbon out of my hand.. Snapped perfectly at the base of my hand.
Thanks to Chris from Kite Republic who is helping me out, paddle was only 6/8 months old, lived in a bag and never had anyone hit it on a bench..
Always looking forward to another trip down the bay with DJ.
I have heard and seen so many of those fanatic paddles break and go back on warentee over the last two years it's crazy, well in to double figures from just the ones I have seen and most not more that a month or two old. My qb is 5 years old and have used it as my only race and dw paddle the hole time and still going strong. By a quality paddle and don't look back.
^^^ Fanatic are a quality brand and unfortunately not the only brand that fails to deliver. My Kialoa snapped at my hand also (carbon fibres embedded in hand also), but as it was 'preloved' when I bought it - I couldn't guarantee that it hadn't been previously damaged. So I re-shafted it with a new Kialoa shaft and less than 18 months later that shaft failed in the same spot.
I've since repaired (sleeved) it and another 18 months on, it's still going strong.
snapped two fanatic paddles, one carbon innegra, one full carbon, in the last 4 months... Sure, paddles don't just snap, but they should be able to last longer than a few months. Looked after well - never bashed on a sharp steel corner, maybe a dodgy run. Not overly impressed at this stage
I've had that same fanatic ineggra paddle since they first released that model 2years ago??
Use it to race and down wind. Leave it outside in sun/car bang it around. Wording on it been cracked for a long long time and no issues..
Bugger now I said that no doubt it will go bang now haha. I rate them they.
