Hi
Looking for a good deal on a beginnerish 2nd hand board/padde.
Just put in a kitchen at home., so tight on the old notes. Looked at the section on Seabreeze but have no idea what is value for money for my needs. Appreciate any help.
I old go out at Brighton beach Scarborough WA. Preferably local pickp Perth area. A recommendation on the Seabreeze listings would be great.
I am 90kg 6ft. Surfing for a long time but not really any good. Kitesurf (surfboard) a lot. Have ridden a starboard 10ft board at kite stock and it was ok in the 1 ft waves breaking slowly over sand.
Like to minimize cash cost but have something useful. Something for having fun. Stability probably more important than high Performance.
Thanks.
hi mate,
just had a browse in the buy and sell over in WA, theres a few good lookng boards, but for what you want i would have to say probably the starboard drive of wopper, both great boards that will surf good and be stable, also the psh hull paddler, havent tried one but have heard good things, paddle and surf well, stable also, plus it comes with a paddle, theres plenty of good deals out there just talk to people, get down to your local store, they normally have some second hand boards or good deals, just demo as many boards as you can as most shops have demos or people will be more than happy to let you have a spin on there board
good luck mate

Look for something 10 1/2 to 11 1/2 ft long and at least 30" wide and then see if its in your budget. You could pay anywhere from $500 to $1100 depending on brand and condition. From perusing the breeze forum you have probably already got an idea of what the reputable brands are so its completely up to you now. I would imagine you should be able to pick up a "brand name" board for around $950.
Looks good

Jas will do a deal on a paddle too
Thanks for all the advice. Very interesting
I actually don't know the sup brands very well so struggling with what is better
Recommended Size makes Sense.
I'll try a few local stores. The demo link shown sounds good but. Was hoping to stick to 999 or less if possible (again I don't know - if I should spend a touch more to avoid a pointless purchase I can at a stretch)
^^^^ Do yourself one favour and suss the link that HILLY posted - the guy is a fellow 'breeze member , (WOK) Jason/Sonya will help you.
That boards been listed for a while now, I sold my Drive for $1000 and it was gone with 24 hours of advertising.
From the responses I had, there were a lot of people after drives and they werent interested in that one as they thought it was over priced for a demo.
Just hold out mate, a good board will pop up, and it'll be in your price range too.
After a lot of questions and talkig to a few folks, I am leaning to finding a 10'5' (30' wide) starboard drive.
Just missed one for $1000 before the new year ( a mate picked it up).
how would the starboard drive 10' compare to this one www.seabreeze.com.au/Classifieds/Stand%20Up%20Paddle/~behcf/2011-Coreban-Icon-10-0.aspx?search=XY18oMsXky0OTRPbuj2%2bmA%3d%3d
?
Hi GranG,
I was like you and ended up buying the 2011 Starboard Whopper in AST silver. Was a huge dilemna between the "Drive", the "Whopper" and the Naish Mana (as an outsider and different board). I am stoked with it, had it just on 12 months now and it's a "keeper". Your needs... you might be different, but go and Demo Demo Demo from the stores/suppliers as these people want to help you to make your best decision and wont put a hard-sell on you. In saying that, you will find something second-hand if you cant justify the cashola for a newie... so hang out if you can.
And I will see you down at Brighton one day so say Gday!!! It's my "local". Cheers, Mottman
