G'day,
Does anyone have any thoughts, feedback or testimonials for any SUP Fitness/Training Clinics/Groups/Coaching on the Goldy?
I'm thinking of dipping my toe in and getting some coaching or even just doing a one off session.
Any thoughts, recommendations and/or names?

Well you in the right place. At Currumbin alone there is at least 3 groups that I know of. Both Pete Dories and Kelly Margetts have squad training sessions and I reckon the ongoing advice and correction you get from one of these groups is better than a one-off lesson where you go away, and more often than not, slip back into old bad habits. Jacko and Ange at Gold Coast SUP also have a squad everyday except Friday and Sunday that meets at 5am. You can also join in with an afternoon group with Steve Walker of Gold Coast SUP on Tuesday's and Thursday's at 5pm.
I'm sure they're all good but I paddle with Pete. As a physio i'm pretty particular about technique and i've found Pete to be very much the same, which whilst at times can be challenging, it's really what is required if you want to stay injury free and on the water.Do a one on one lesson with Pete and get into the group. It's great fitness and he's an outstanding coach and waterman

If you are after one on one lessons then you should book in with Jake Jensen he is one of the worlds best paddlers and is ine of the best at showing other people what works and why!!
Hope to see you on the water soon
Thanks guys for all that.
What about this site below? There is in-person training available but there is also a series of programs in PDF it looks like.

Obviously in-person would be better but for those of us not always on the Goldy it may be a good alternative.
Any feedback out there?

Cheers Paul for that info.
Yeah, Currumbin sounds awesome. I live elsewhere I'm afraid but I'm sometimes on the Goldy.
I'll consider all that for sure.

No worries, if you are ever here and want to come and join in then you are more than welcome.
Thanks for all this great info.
Any more out there?...
Sounds like someones doing a bit of fishing to me...
Having done sessions with most proclaimed experts on the goldy myself, the first thing you need to realise is that none of them have the exact perfect method. You will take pros and cons from each and adapt them to your body, board, style, and current progression level. As the sport is still young, nothing is set or known, and each group goes through cycles as to what is the latest and greatest thing to do.
If you are new to the sport i doubt there will be any difference in any coaching session you will recieve as you are yet to grasp the fundamentals, so anything further you are taught will go over your head (no offense).
Thanks RJK for that Objective view point on SUP (Race/Fitness) Clinics on the Gold Coast. It seems the Goldy is the SUP Clinic Capital of Australia. Very lucky.
Yeah, I'm new to it all.
Much appreciated.
