I have been using an Axis SUP Surf paddle for the last 4 years and have really put it to the test in some big waves. Unfortunately, last month a young surfer made a bad decision which ended its life prematurely. I saw the Atlantis Elixir was on discount at the surfboard warehouse.so thought it would be worth trying as it looked very pretty, and they claimed it provided superior strength etc.
I took my new paddle out for its first outing on the weekend, and it snapped in half on the third (small) wave I paddled into. This paddle is definitely not fit for purpose as it is far too weak, and the carbon is too thin. I was lucky I only suffered a minor cut on my finger when the carbon shattered. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has a better experience of these paddles.
I would really like to hear from anyone who has had a really good tough paddle like the Axis they can recommend.
I have 2 x Ke Nalu paddles with XTuf shafts and a VMG Baldes Orca paddle and they are all very good and can take a lot of pressure.
Totally agree with Dave, I also have two Ke Nalu paddles and they are great value for money. If you do damage part of the paddle you can easily buy parts separately. Dean is really helpful if you need any advice.

And they're on special at the moment
