Hopefully not the case, but is there a back up date for this in case Champion Lakes isn't open due to algae bloom? On a selfish note it would mean I could actually make it if it was.
Just spoke with Champion Lakes - Algae will not be a problem. Race course is open this weekend for the rowing.
Entries starting to fill. Great fun event for 1st timers - plenty of rest between heats and short distance paddling. Not all about winning, having a go. We had 2 new paddlers last year that loved the racing format.
My dark horse for the event is Leo Beyers. He has been training the house down and looking very fit and fast, should give the boys in the opens a run for their money....
Damn it, just moved to perth 5mins away from champion lakes and I'm away at work that weekend
Just out of curiosity Is that place open to the public with sup boards? I'm having allot of trouble finding any info this.
Cheers

Hi Shayne - I believe it is open to public as long as there in no event on. We have gone up there a couple of times for training - no issue. Shame you can't make the race.

Yeah Bit of a shame. Don't think it matters as i just read is all for 14" boards anyways. is that correct?
Hey Shayne, yes 14' race boards.
some will be available for hire on the day.
Looking windy for the day at the mo?
Did it last year & can't wait to smash previous times

Welcome to the FOB's young fella, great to have you onboard.
Rather be paddling flat water with the breeze, than paddling to Rottnest against the breeze chaperoning some shark bait swimmer.
Results from the 2015 Starboard Black Blade.
Great turn out and fantastic racing. Thanks to Geoff Bryant and Paul Jones for their excellent work in running the event.
Also thanks to Ian Grose from Stand Up Paddle Sports and Starboard for his support.Well done to Wes Fry the fastest paddler in the State and State Male Flatwater Champion.
Nicki Jones State Female Flatwater Champion.
Kent Wright - State Male O/50 Flatwater Champion
Joe Fry - State Male O/40 Flatwater Champion
Sue Collins - State O/40 Female Champion
Pretty strong tailwind Teatrea.
This is the same format as the AuSUP SUPfest held in NSW. 200m sprint is a standing start - electronic gates - not the running start they have at Lost Mills - where Danny got that time.
It will be interesting to see if a world record gets broken at SUPfest - pretty sure no one has gone under 50secs in a proper standing start 200m.
