18 yo son wants to go surf other breaks ( we live Hawaii). Bali would be fun but honestly fighting the crowds and 25 hours flying sounds less than ideal.
Fiji? Samoa? where else would one look in that time from for a week of surf....flying out of HNL

What type of waves are you after? Pretty hard to beat tahiti

I would have thought Hawaii is pretty hard to beat! If you only have a week maybe explore your islands?
otherwise a boat trip in the Ments? If you can find a crew who'll welcome a SUP.
SoCal? You surf Cottons he goes Trestles, He goes Blacks you go Scripps Pier.Seems like there's several spots w famous shortboard waves next to SUPable stuff, but also expensive, crowded, maybe small, etc.
Too Late
i would be remiss if I didn't at least mention Tofino! Cold water and need a wetsuit. At that time of year 4/3 hooded. Uncrowded breaks. Usually something to surf for just about everyone from groms to rippers. Beautiful beach breaks. No rocks. No sharks. World class restaurants. Two of my friends and neighbours live on Oahu but vacation here. Charming little town. Friendly locals. Very accepting of sup surfers. Relatively easy to get to. Fly direct to Vancouver and then a short flight to Tofino or rent an electric car in Vancouver, ferry to Nanaimo and 3 hour drive on a very challenging paved road that is insanely fun to drive with the torque of an electric. PM me if you have any questions.
Cheers
Bob
