For those thinking about having a paddle in a seriously big beast (an OC6 - 6 man Outrigger Canoe), Torquay Outriggers paddle most Thursday's at 6pm, and in the water at 6:15. Visitor's are always welcome. They have spare paddles. (Because I reckon ours are too long!).
They are often paddling with either 4 or 5 people, so they would appreciate some extra man-power!
You can probably organise a paddle of an OC1 through them also.

(if I'm around, you can also try a Naish 17 SUP)
Play it by ear tomorrow CMC... like (almost) every day . See what the swell and wind produce, and then decide. Even this afternoon I headed off with a board on the roof, and was surprised by what the surf was offering, so went home for a quick board swap.
Well that was fun! Nice amount of swell pushing through and past Pt Danger. Can't wait to catch a big rolling wave out there on an OC6.
I was in "seat 3" tonight calling the shots.... I call "HUT", everyone else calls "HO", then we swap sides....
Yes, first paddle. Janet told me to sit in seat 3 and call. So I did ! I liked seat 3 too. A girl was in seat 1, she had sweet timing too.... follow the leader....
Great work Simon, stoked you had a paddle. Are you going back for another?
Wait until you are with a strong crew and get out into the ocean. It's like nothing else I have ever done before. So much fun.
Absolutely I will be back for more. They paddle a few times a week, and it's fairly close to all of the offshore bombora surf along from Point Danger. Can't wait to get an OC6 gushing down a decent roller. We get really good swell lines pushing through there. Plus they roll through in a crumbling fashion when they do break, so perfect for OC6!
Sunday's 9am. Another paddle time option. So if the surf is blown out and onshore.... OC6 !
There's an under utilised OC4 in Torquay also. Word is, it's going to parked on the beach real soon, with the two OC6's. Even better news.... the OC4 is meant to better at catching the waves! Next target, an OC2.... anyone know of a cheapy?
