Bad news in the NZ papers this morning. Terrible.

A New Zealand surfer has been found dead on a renowned beach in Bali, apparently the victim of a brutal murder.

Jordan Lucas, 25, was found at Uluwatu Beach, a popular surf beach on the southern coast of Bali.

The Jakarta Globe reported that police believe he was murdered. The newspaper said his head was crushed and he was dead when his body entered the water.

Relatives last night said Mr Lucas' parents would fly to Bali today to formally identify their son.

Bali police were called to the beach last Tuesday after a man's body was found by a fisherman at the beach, the Jakarta Globe reported.

Police told the newspaper the man had fatal head injuries and also had injuries to his thighs.

Ida Bagus Putu Alit, of the Sanglah General Hospital in Denpasar, told the newspaper that the man died before going into the water.

"The cause of death was the injury to the face," Alit said.

This is so heavy.

Like many as soon as I get to that Island your troubles and sensibilities seem to evaporate. The lack of rules breeds complacency. It shouldnt.

Drugs like Coke etc are growing more and more common place even in normal night clubs. The Russians are coming and along with them the Russian Mafia and all of the lovely things they bring to a place. Pattaya Thailand and Amsterdam spring to mind for examples of the lovely ways they make money.

Bali is not the carefree, safe, Tourist playground as it once was. A lot more of this stuff happens you never hear about. My wifes best friend lives there we speak with her a few times a week. The things that go on even to Expats would make your skin crawl and would be front page news here. They are not even reported there.

Be safe, be happy!
