Here is a great article on the King of the Cut race, it's fast approaching who else is coming over?
We have some great downwind tracks in WA but this is the best, great atmosphere, great race, ran by a dedicated SUP crew.
If you can't make it over this year lock it for next year, this event is doubling in size and stature every year.

I tried doing this position last weekend........accidently
A quick question. Do I need to wear/carry a life jacket/flares/ PLB for the race?
Those that know for sure will probably confirm but I'm pretty sure it is PFD and flare, no PLB required, well that's what it was last year.
However I just bought a PLB so I will be taking that anyway.

Hey Kieranr, be great to see you & the NSW Crew, what's your ride?
I may have a spare Coastrunner if you want to use it Kieran. Seems to be your backup board over here on the west coast for you.

Your legs go ha ha mine anyway As you get closer to the finish it starts to get a bit washy from the shore line but still heaps of runs ,early in the run its over more reef and rock shore so the runs are more pure .
Hey Stimo, how long did the extended course take you, and are there any good targets on the horizon to aim for ??

It's a bit unfair asking the other guys how long it took, they were kind enough to stop and regroup a couple of times for some bloke that was having a bit of a shocker and took about 2 1/2 hours
His excuse was that it was his first paddle on his 14 since the nationals and has spent most of the time on a surf sup over the last couple of months.
We pretty much just headed North of the tower we used to aim for when finishing at Singleton, then looked for the orange roof of the Secret Harbour SLSC.
I would suggest anyone doing the run to take a walk up to the lookout at SHSLSC and check out the surroundings.
There is not much in the way of buildings between SHSLSC and Long Point at Port Kennedy so you can pretty much aim for where the Northern end of the houses meets the dune vegetation.
Others may have spotted something else, as I was really just following them.
Just got word that Penelope Strickland from NZ is heading over for KOTC & The Doctor.
She came 3rd at M2O this year and also 3rd at the Maui Paddleboard Race.
Hi, the Mandurah Mail are doing a King of the Cut story & looking for a local angle. Any contacts appreciated for a person living in the Peel region that is doing the run appreciated asap. Cheers
