for now.....
And yes, I understrand the irony and that I'm part of the problem not the solution, but went for a surf yesterday and the lineup was the busiest I've seen on a weekday since christmas holidays
Yea it's a tough one Baz . Reasons for a surf - exercise , mental health , obviously will be more then 2 meters apart , virus does not survive in salt water as far as I know
reasons against - probably a bad look when being told to stay home unless is essential , if are injured taking up valuable medical time and facilities , Not so much here but I would imagine on the Gold Coast if you are seen catching a few nice waves it would soon attract a crowd .
had a look last night was a few small waves coming in which I normally would have jumped into to - thought about it and went home
Mac doesnt want to go surfing.
Its because he has mint mct boards i reckon and everyone is doing it tough
I told he to go to the warehouse and then people would pity him.
yeah i know the feeling especially if you drive but every construction site is working , cranes etc , so just go , Burleigh stretch has a few banks but nothing doing up here .
Pretty sure I read in some of the overseas lockdowns if you can walk to the beach you can surf , then in California going in the water is completely banned and being policed with big fines , NZ - you can't leave your property - so who knows what will happen here
Couldn't agree more SP it's not a ****n holiday, if more ignorant ****s stayed home this whole ****fight could turn around quicker ,then we ALL get a surf. Tas please don't quote old wives tales about saltwater helping or chewing 5kg of garlic as it's just bull**** that the gullible feed on. This isn't a common cold.
Hadn't heard the one about chewing salt or eating garlic cobra .
Have heard swilling vodka every 15 minutes is supposed to stop the virus attaching to the oral mucosa - also heard snorting cocaine is supposed to stop the virus attaching to the nasal lining
So I guess a snort of coke and a swig of vodka every 15 minutes I should be good to go for a surf ??
seriously I think it's sending a bad message to the rest of the community to be seen out there when they are losing their jobs and being told to stay at home .
my opinion shut the whole place down NZ style , 12 tower cranes here working , probably thousands in close contact , wtf , what message are they sending ..
Surf isolation yesterday.
Paddled into to a point break by myself and got one wave.
Was it worth it . Of course it was.
Thanks for that cuttlefish - interesting read .
unfortunately here down south last few days having the same dramas with crowds turning up for a surf as no work on - hope it doesn't end in all beaches in Tas being out of bounds -usual story few dicks ruin it for everyone
Yep beaches south Tasmania closed - still open North of the border at this stage . Thinking as it cools off numbers drop off significantly - if we are lucky might miss the lockout
Max 2 people allowed to be together out and about with more detailed stay at home clarifications dropping tonight. Not looking good ladies and gentleman!
Surfcoast (Torquay, Bells etc) shire has announced beach closures and has signs up on most beaches simply saying beach closed. However their website confirms you can exercise - walk, surf, swim etc provided you maintain distancing ie no congregating on the beach or just hanging around. For now....
Surfing Tasmania challenging the surf ban on beaches in Tas . Fishing ban put in place yesterday has now been overturned apparently after being challenged by a lawyer as to weather fishing is considered exercise or not - interesting times and pretty hard to keep up with .
Old neighbour went out fishing this morning - came in to find a big warning sticker on his windscreen and the road to the boat ramp taped off . We came home to find the warning sticker stuck in our front gate
Anybody else like me wondering how is horse and greyhound racing still going ahead when every other sport in the country has been cancelled
Well in WA I'm stumped as to what you can and can't do within your region?
Mine is Perth and Peel, but I can not find a map anywhere that defines those limits?
Can also not find anything telling me that I can't drive to the beach for my regular type of exercise?
Unfortunately unlike some I can't afford a coastal suburb address and walk to the beach.
