Or more to the point the hitch stopped it.
Bought a board for my son this arvo - One i've been chasing for myself for a while.
Great board at a great price.
Anyway, got home, unstrapped it, turned around to put the straps away.... heard a noise that i did not like.
Board slid straight off the roof racks, to be stopped by the tow hitch on my ute...... Yes, i have a sloped driveway, but no board has ever hinted at moving. i think this was karma 'cause the wife really didn't want me to buy it.
Here's the question, between my sobbing (OK to be honest, i would have happily paid what i did for the board with that damage).... would you simply fill the hole with resin (in layers) and be done with it, or cut, fill and glass properly?
Cheers!
i thought you'd all say that.....
Anyone have any recommendations for repair places on the Gold Coast?
(and what would you guesstimate as a cost?)

The Queenslanders don't get boards repaired they just buy new ones.....

Dont you say that about mac . he's best bloke around by a long shot
Many waldens are epoxy over Styrofoam blanks, if that's what yours is, the foam will melt as you pour in the resin.
Epoxy resin is easy to buy, but it costs more than polyester. So taking it to a pro may be the best idea.
Actually a mate of mine has a penny board. He put a penny in the board with his date of birth . Go arty and say you meant it.

Ok I did you a favour now get back to normal or as close as you can
North or south of the goldy?
i live in Brisbane, work in Southport - happy to travel anywhere between Noosa and Byron (which seems excessive...). Long story short, north or south doesn't really matter.
Horror luck mate - get it done properly that's deep & don't prompt more bad luck
You know what's worse?
i had a decent board bag in the boot of the car for the board - but because of the crappy rain, and a handover in a car park, i couldn't be bothered to use the damn bag. There still would have been a ding, but it likely wouldn't have even broken the surface, and clearly not have been anywhere near as large.
'cause the wife really didn't want me to buy it.
Clearly the wife's fault, she should pay

So you're saying that i should never stop paying for it????
Yep- will get it done properly. If for no other reason than just to see how much it costs....
On the plus side, it came with a somewhat damaged 10.5" Alkali/Thomas Brexton fin (which I'm not convinced is the right fin for the board... 9' mega magic)... and I've managed to repair that quite nicely, if I don't say so myself.
And I've smoothed things over with the missus.... bought her a fancy new fridge this morning. Of course, no one can tell her that my beer fridge has gone to crap, and I wanted the kitchen fridge to replace my beer fridge. That said, we'll see how Karma plays out on this too, seeing that I have to drill a hole for the gas line for the kegs without puncturing the cooling coil...

you must have a nice towball on the veedub
Luck is already turning mate - boards , fins & nectar coolers
Even better... i reckon the 'new' beer fridge will actually fit a 3rd keg (19L keg) in there... 3 kegs on tap is a dream scenario!
You're certainly playing with fire my friend. I hope you get away with it.

"What do you mean, Dear? There was always three taps on the old fridge....."
... to be clear, the 'new' beer fridge is the 'old' kitchen fridge. i did buy a new fridge for the kitchen.... mostly to upgrade the beer fridge, though!
As they say, it's only the depth that varies....
