I like a chest zip. feels much more flexible. You look like a retard trying to take them off tho.

The chest zip is much better than the back models, you my need the have a side kick man like Lacey to help you get out of it.
He just loves helping me get out of mine

I just bought a new rip curl flash bomb zipperless.

Warm as anything and super snug but OMG, getting it on and off; totally hectic.

Took 20 mins to get it on and only got it on after giving up and googling a 'how to put on' video and then needed a passer by's help to get it off.

yep..

I hated my chest zip, then after a few surfs, well heaps off surfs it got easier to get in and out of.

I had one of the oneilgate wetties, the ones that disintegrated after one surf .and after dealing with the greatest dickhead put into a sales position(head office ) I knocked back the chest and got the back zip. well it is half of a back zip and I love it. I don't notice the flexibility difference ,but I most certainly appreciate how easy it is to get on and off compared to the chest.

well I guess long boarders don't need the flexibility a chest zipper is supposed to give ...a bac zipper it will be . thanx for input

Always chest zip. Just don't be a pussy getting it off and your fine.

Biggest advantage, they don't leak when you duck dive, back zips always leak... In Tas your wearing a wettie 300 odd days a year so got experience.

Vissla's are super good value, a bit less flex but much more robust build than any of the others with the exception of Patagonia, which are the best but bloody exxy...

I've got a new Vissla back zip for winter. The back zip has a bat wing that's also lined. The lining in the front goes to the knees. $350 well spent. I've got rotator cuff problems in both shoulders and I just don't have the flexibility to get into a chest zip. Always use shopping bags to slip in and Its toasty. Southern NSW. But saying that it ain't that cold in the water yet.

Back zips dont always leak Andy, well my half zip with the Batman cape does not.

And unlike you surfing in crazy cold, a bit of cold water flush up here is quite refreshing

After talking to SA, he assisted me to acquire a new flash bomb with front zip .... super warm ...3/2 that was having me want for some colder water on the weekend ...really warm suit. Noticeably warmer than my old suit
Front zip, and easy enough to get on an off

Oneil Psychofreak Fuze 3/2mm with the front zip. Not too hard to get in and out of the neck, but ankles are hard to get on and off. The thing is, hardly any water gets in! Best, (and warmest) steamer, I've ever owned. Bought it last winter and still looks new.

I got one of those a few weeks back. I always had Rip Curl wetties and they were good but expensive and didn't last. The one I got has a back zip as well but no dramas with water entry. Pretty happy with it.

This is my second winter in a Quiksilver 3/2 Syncro Chest Zip. I love it. No comparison with the cheap wetties. Next one I was thinking of a Quiksilver zipperless in a 2/2. Thought it may be easier to get in and out of being 2/2. I do look like im having a fit sometimes trying to get my arms out at the showers.
But next wettie I want the one that has the anti flush on the arms and legs to minimise water rushing in.
Hard to beat the Quiksilver wetsuits on e-bay from the factory at 40% off.

Back in the water today after a 4 week layoff. Nice to be back but slowly it goes.

So, was the second attempt at the zipperless !

Got it on easy. Once you know the technique, a piece of cake.

Unfortunatly, I woke in the early hours with a case of the runs and thought I had cleared the pipes before this morning's session.

Alas, after a few waves and the body moving around in the water, round 2 gurgled from within.

I got out, quickly walked to the car, put my board down and rushed to get the wetsuit off.

I couldn't. For the love of god, I couldn't get it over my shoulders and yep, second surf and it was christened with a hefty amount of liquid.

....not good. Not good at all.

I'll never buy a back zip again except for a springsuits. Chest zips are so much warmer not letting water in through the zip & more flexible. Getting out cam make you feel a bit like Houdini until you get a routine sussed out, but its totally worth it

I have almost completely weeded out back zip suits from my collection. I now have all chest zip, and one no zip wetsuit.

The main reason for getting rid of back zips is the velcro tab at the top of the zip. It catches on the fluffy lining and wrecks it.

There's also the hassle of getting the neck cape batwing flappy thing into position and over your head. There is nothing worse than have the batwing rolled down inside your suit when you're trying to close the back zip.

The trick with chest and no zip suits is to not try to just take them off all at once. You ease it off a bit at a time. Bring the neck down to the shoulder. Bring the other side down. Pull another inch or two of rubbed down. Repeat on the other side. It only takes 2-3-4 gradual movements until the suit comes off easily. You wouldn't try to drag a rubber off your knob so why try to do the same thing with a wetsuit?

Easing it off also reduces the risk of tearing the suit, which is a problem with modern super stretch suits.

I just bought 5/4 from needessentials needessentials.com/products/5-4-hood-chestzip I am recovering from ear surgery so I haven't tried it yet. It looks the business and fits like the proverbial glove.
