Hope you guys can help, want to get a board as a gift for my 26 yo son. He surfs shortboards and 9' longboard and has expressed interest in a 7' single fin. He is 70kg and 6' tall, will be surfing shore break and smaller point breaks (Sandy Pt, Vicco, Flinders, Lorne etc but may want to travel and use it on OS point breaks when we can get on a plane again. Good surfer rather than great, easy duck dive etc.limited time on water because of working heaps.
So any suggestions would be much appreciated, wants a good all rounder and fun new board experience. I only foil and sup surf so haven't got a bloody clue!
Mctavish blue bird looks pretty special ....pricey but it looks like a board that you would keep forever...
Jonathan, suggest you ask over on the Longboarding Midlength thread (not knocking Razzs advice) as plenty of guys there ride around that length
Note Mick could ride a dustbin lid and rip
Cheers
Ripper of a vid, I know Mick is a ripper of the highest caliber but geez he looked to have dialed in how to surf a single fin.
Didn't look to over do anything and just put that board in the right spot time after time.
Mctavish are pretty high pedigree boards, Bluebird or Tracker are epic designs for a single fin IMO
