Hi
This has probably been done over and over, I suppose its good to have the latest news and deals.
Im a goofy footer (not a beginner and can hold a rail) and plan to travel mid May 2016, travelling solo and would like to stay at a camp with a few wave selections and option to switch breaks to avoid crowding. Friendly operators and good food. I don't want to be ripped off but I don't want to slum it either.
Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated?
How long for and whats your budget?
Those mention so far are really for short term stays unless you are loaded
Do you want aircond or can you cope with the heat?
Do you have an area in mind or waves you are keen on?
I am thinking going for an extended time next year and just working through all the options myself but also have to work though how my family fit in as well>
prepared to go budget so I can extend the trip, but want a variety of waves from a land camp ie boats trip to expensive it seems, preferable more lefts as Im goofy
Loads of places to stay over there these days. Just head over and wing it. You will be better off by a mile if planning on staying a while and have a budget. That's as much advice as I will give ya
If you're going for a land camp, getting one with a wave out front is an absolute MUST. There's nothing worse than frothing for a paddle and having to wait on other guests to faff around and finish their breakfast.
Pit stops is a great setup, but MSR is right on the beach so you don't have to climb a million steps 10 times a day. It's also a bit cheaper.
Ebay Camp, Ebirs Place, Bang Bangs and a couple of home stays are around the corner, while Yantos Camp and the newly opened MIA camp are in the other direction.
Lots of options around playgrounds, ranging in $10 to $300+ per night. You can negotiate short or longer stays, but 10 day trips are the norm.
Thanks everyone, some good tips and advice to start planning
Don't stop adding to the thread though
cheers mf
Just got back in June/July 2015 it was probably the best waves I've ever surfed and ever seen. I was on a boat called the nusa dewata for 10 nights. And surfed a heap of breaks. I'm going again in 2016. July. But I would not got to a land camp but if I had to the best one with the a couple of options. Lances lefts the guy that runs it is a champion bloke. The camp has a very good left out the front. And access to a few other breaks. Do yourself a favour and get over there stay at any of them because the whole of the ments is great.
