I have just found out there is a proposal to permanently block off access to Eddies for cars.
I don't kite, but have place up there and wanted to bring this to your attention. Very popular with the twin tip and boost crowd and the best sunset spot in town.

The objectors are a couple of angry anti everything people. The shire is taking comments.

I quite like the walk

Its pretty rubbish if there's an emergency and the road is closed, old fella fishing has a heart attack or a spinal injury or the like.

Many many years ago you could drive the whole bay to the point and the beach was 100 metres wide the whole way, it was always even back than frowned upon to 4x4 all the way to backbeach. Now there is a no vehicle zone many people in town and surrounding areas use that part of the beach to take their kids and find a quiet spot.
the big drama than is boy racers with daddy's 4x4 come and hack through the whole no drive zone.
many of these locals would normally shoot on site these sorts of people however it is highly frowned upon to do such in front of your wife and children.
Paradox is 90% of people is the eddies point to kitesurf/paddle/fish responsibly it's a real sweet place to spend the day with your mates or family. It's a treat to be able to catch a few herring or whiting from the tailgate of your ute, for the Kitesurfers to set their gear up...

unfortunately no waves their and heaps of big sharks near the island , 4 metres plus regular.
closed or open im ok, whatever keeps the crowds down.......

I'm surprised to hear the beach is not already closed to vehicles. Geez its been 23 years since I've been there. The last time was when I proposed to my wife on back beach while visiting family who used to live there. Should do a trip to see how much its changed, place has a great pub

hahaha it can be...reminds me...1988 (since your the same age as me, you'll know how old I was). Finished Friday arvo fibreglassing job for Katana's uncle & raced up to a surf spot, nailed a few overhead bombs that went as far as the takeoff for the next main break. Had that to myself, my 2 mates surfed the mainbreak, only 2 of them out. Very light SW, clean with a little bump, consistent fun waves.

Then headed up to that pub for a few beers. I remember we owned the pool table all night, we used to play a lot back then. I probably didn't have dinner & got smashed....so apparently after that we bailed to Eddie's, parked on the beach & crashed out on the beach using our board bags as sleeping bags.

Mates woke up the next morning & I was gone, just an empty board bag laying there...I was woken by a cleaner at the back door of the pub using the doormat as a pillow. Must have been chasing more beer or something lol

So I walked to the bakery, got a pie & 2 lucazades. Downed those & was good to go. Unfortunately the surf was sh1t

That's a good effort to wander back "home" in that state.

My head aches just thinking about the next morning. How do you reckon you would go doing that now?

The last time I used a board bag as a sleeping bag was 1997 in Esperance. Far to old and should have known better - or maybe just not drunk enough to actually sleep properly?

Depends if I have dinner or not. I pretty much do it every second Wed after finishing 4 nightshifts. If I somehow miss dinner it might take me 2 days to recover

That's drinking Coopers Pale Ale with a few wines thrown into the mix. Its hard to get a hangover from the Pale Ale, but the wine can be a problem. If I'm in Japan I eat as much as possible coz Japanese beer is the worst hangover inducing beer on the planet...Tastes nice though & I stick to Suntory premium malts these days which is not as bad.

No that is just dredging sand from the jetty to Grace Darling Park

Ice-E rang the CEO of Gingin and he advised that letter was never authorised and the councillor had to officially retract the statement.

Good news

it would have been a shame if we lost beach access to another part of the coast.
