Does anyone know if Queenslanders are able to head south in to NSW and partake in a little surf (like days of old)?

The link above kinda states it is possible, in that Queenslanders can travel to NSW as long as you have a border pass. I head down to Ballina, Byron, Lismore etc for work but up to now have not bothered to take a board. Each time I return I just get waved through the border so I'm sure the qld cops don't care as long as you have your pass and qld plates.
But do the NSW cops care that I'm not there for work?
Those boarder passes are a joke,,anybody can get one it takes 2 minutes to apply on line and print off. Heaps of people are doing what you are asking.
Will only be a problem if you get pulled over somewhere and they suss you to be out of your area/state.
Been a few $1000 fines handed out in Lismore etc for people just traveling around for leisure. Would have to be unlucky though, but Qld plates would make you stand out a bit.
