Awesome JJ,
Maybe someday I'll go somewhere with swell other than motor boat swell . Looks huge, can you uphaul in those conditions, or do you have to water start ?.

Love it, love it, love it. One of my goals for next season is to sail with a smaller front foil. I've been going to my 1250 nearly always. When do you downsize now?

Also, I was noticing your back foot move from the windward to the leeward strap, but it's hard to tell why you are doing it. It is simply upwind/downwind?

TIA

Cheers
I pretty much only waterstart, surprisingly easy with the 2.8 as long as the gust is over 20 knots.
Not sure I could have uphauled in the 30 knot swells especially with the mast base forward.

I only ride 920, 720 or 550 - all work in big seas, perhaps the 720 is easiest for my 82kgs.
A good speed, control, lift and maneuverability compromise.

The 550 feels super slippery so good fun but its optimum range for playing in bigger swells is fairly small.
Works best on the river when it's blowing and I'm mostly just blasting about.

920 works ok too when it's on, turns great and quick but perhaps a little excess lift flying down chunky swells downwwind.

I use the rear leeward strap to turn the board properly downwind, switch to the windward strap for upwind.
Although I sometimes use the rear leeward strap if I'm way overpowered sailing upwind, my stance can feel a little more secure that way.

Good sticky shoes work well with the half-straps

I think when its crazy windy wingers look like they have a control advantage - we can't shed excess sail power as easily/effectively as they can.
But I reckon we can carve downwind at speed better than any other foilers
