Finally got this 360 format to work. Check it out. You can swipe to any POV or if you have a phone you move the phone to any view.
Just a nerd that thinks this is cool.

Cool Hess !
The wave you're riding is way more readable than with your regular POV. I don't know if it is possible for wave riding but the harness mount is great to give even better veiw of the riding style. Top mast is great for filming your buddies riding along.
Great to have the opportunity to focus on your foot switch : so relaxed ! I see why you ride strapless.

Nice one, have been messing around with insta360 footage sideloaded into a meta quest VR headset just to give older family a chance to see what it's all about! The 360 format captures the environment and wave sizes nicely...

Will see if I can view yours now.

Great vid, nice smooth riding.

Most impressive is that you've actual got a 360 deg camera to film in true perspective rather than looking like the reflection inside a deep dish bowl.

Nice

Thanks, it is pretty cool tech. I have ridden with straps and they do allow for more advanced maneuvers but I just find it easier as I do move around the board a lot depending on what I am doing.

Yep works ok, although I think YouTube 360 compresses the quality too much. Nice feeling like standing on the board with you but the sea wasn't always well defined.

Going to try to get a better camera location next time I go out, plus in 360 mode on VR headset need as many pixels as possible. 8K probably a minimum for anything decent! Ah well I need to upgrade camera!

People really "get it" however when seen in VR headset, suddenly the sport makes sense lol. I quite like watching the sail response in gusts and seeing if what I think I'm doing with my feet is really what I'm doing...

The original runs a 5.7k which shows the water and waves well. However youtube only supports 4k at the highest setting. Also you need to have a good computer and fast internet to get the best results, albit @ 4k.
Still it has to be pretty cool to watch any 360 content with a VR headset.

I learnt youtube 360 videos are not supported on some browsers like Safari. Seems using the app or Chrome allows the POV to be changed by the Viewer. Kinda disappointing.
Also the apple store could not get a full VR view for youtube 360 videos on the igoggles but said it would be possible with third party App but I never got to try it.
