I am beginner in windfoiling,my jp hydrofoil lxt is ok but very sensitive. I have some Cuts and scraches of mast and boom. 2times i had to fix tiny holes with solarez.
Are there any boards which are not so sensitive? What about Tabou MTE? is it worth buying?
Thanks for you input.
Robert

I have a Starboard freeride 150 Starlite construction which is very tough but a little heavier. Still would recommend nose protection too.

There was a thread about the lxt quite some time back. Its more a case of the lxt not being solid enough. Its normal for the board to cop a bit of a bashing with foiling, but i think the lxt construction was particulaly bad/way too soft.

I bought a board from Casey at Reefwarriors. Vacuum bagged inegra. I believe it's a closed cell foam core so you can put some tape over a ding and still go play and it won't absorb water. I LOVE my board. A bit heavier than my Slingshot Levitator 150, but totally worth it.

Both the Severne Alien and Predator are strong and reasonably light.

Thanks for the hint,I hope my retailer will change my board to the ES Version.
My hydrofoil lxt 133 2023 suddenly has some Micro pin holes in aerea with no dents and scraches. I bought it May 2024.

Hi
I ordered now a Tabou Air Ride 81 L MTE .This board should be strong enough, a little bit heavier than JP. Surfstations and schools are using them for learning and to rent.
Was in sale 1200 euro.

This reminds me of a board I got replaced under warranty, thanks to great dealer support from North Beach Windsurfing. Once the board had soaked up a liter of water, the water come out at multiple spots when I left the board in the sun. The pressure inside the board just got too high with all the water in it. The original problem was a poorly inserted foot strap plug.

Good to hear the dealer/Tabou/Cobra took responsibility for the cr4p board and gave you your money back. I think its good to hear about the poor boards as well as the good boards. Its the only way the manufacturer will keep standards high. Some people go on about how good their kit is, then you find out they had a duff board but have never mentioned it in their 'reviews'.

Good luck with the new board. Some sort of nose protector, either custom made fibreglass or foam would be a good idea if you are prone to the odd crash.

Well I suppose you cant blame all that on Cobra, the spec only says wood sandwich from rear to centre!
Maybe they should add 9. Enough epoxy resin.

Friend who is a newbie foiler has a SlingShot Dialer. Higher volume, heavy, but looks like built to take abuse. Only has a deep Tuttle box. He has no nose guard, surf bent, deviator . No structural damage yet for all the pounding it takes. Might be able to find a used one for a good price. The few I've noticed for sale in the USA are ~$250 asking price.

If you're destroying boards then maybe a lesson will help save some coin. What stage are you at now? Flying 50m or further. Breach all the time when going fast. What front wing & sail combo.

Yes I am a beginner but the JP and the Tabou had this issues by itself. No crash no hits by me. Stabile flights are ok,tack and gybe on the water also.Gybe on the foil maybe next year.
I have NP v8 flight 5.0,6.0 and 7.0,for less wind Naish RN Lift 7.6. Unfortunatly in Austria we do not have all days constant winds. This summer was very hot and nearly no wind.
Foil is Fanatic/Duotone Air free SLS 1000/800 front and 215/216 Stabilizer, fuselage 90 cm, Mast Alu 90cm and a 75 cm for Lake Neusiedl, because the Lake is not deep enough for longer mast

Flikka boards are really robust, handcrafted in slovenia. Ask them for a size in your weight class and ask for extra strongeness in the nose. At 75kg i recommend 115 liter 2m x 70cm. Little harder in the beginning but very nice later

Sorry to hear your issues. I have a Tabou Airride MTE since 2020 .. no issue at all. So the quality of production is not stable. I have also a Patrik, built in Ukraine .. rock solid and very light.
